I'm having a heatburn this morning. I had them once in a while the last few years. Adults complain about them all the time, but kids never seem to get 'em. I never got one before my puberty. Why is that?

The older I get, the more I seem to get.

I don't know if it's a stress issue or a time issue (eating too fast because I'm too busy) or what... ??

So, when I lived in Asia, I really wasn't on EST? Odd...

But even in California, it's almost 8. What time does school start for you?

People say if you're ears are burning, someone is talking about you. I guess that's why you have hearburn, huh?

BTW, it's spelled HEART.

OK, I'll be serious. I used to have a problem with heartburn until I quit smoking.

My father never smoked, and had heartburn problems, but he'd drink a few pots of coffee every day. The first thing to do about heartburn is examine your diet.

Secondly, for instant relief Tums or Rolaids work great. If there's none of that to be found, try a glass of milk. If you're having it more than four or five times a week, go see a doctor.

I suffered from HB for years. When I turned 32 it was real bad so I went to the docs and had an tube stuffed down my throat that had a camera in it and found out I have a hiatal hernia. Which means the connection from my stomach to my esophogus never seals shut so I have a lot of acid reflux, almost daily. I am not overweight so the misconception that heavy people get this is BS. I do, however smoke, drink LOTS of coffee and loads of good spicy food which are no-nos for my condition, but screw it, I like. Anyway, daily pepcid pills normally do the trick. Stress kicks off Gerd (gastro intestinal reflux disease, which is a fancy way of saying heartburn) also so try relaxing a bit. :)

Ahem, anyway, it's probably due to a combination of things. As you grow older, you have more stresses, and more stresses can lead to more heartburn. Also, have you changed your diet any? Do you eat breakfast? Do you eat faster than usual? Do you have a doctor or health teacher because you might want to ask him/her that question rather than asking OT. ;)
