A question about Catholic priests

Seriously, Catholic Priests are not allowed to marry or have "lovers". However, there are a few married Catholic Priests because of a loophole in doctrine I believe. If you are a preacher in some other religion who is already married and convert to Catholicism, they can become priests and remain married with the blessing of the church. And for those who automatically dismiss the vow of celibasy for priests, I dont think you should without first researching why this became the practice in the church. There is a sound theological reason for it. Not necessarily that I agree with it, but it does make sense and I dont think anyone should dismiss it without knowing the facts.

Then how am I using the same User ID I had before? You would be guessing incorrect. Who says making a joke isn't a way to state an opinion? Maybe if you have a stick up your @ss or your stick up a little boys @ss, then a joke isn't a way to state an opinion. Sometimes jokes are the best way to get an opinion across. If I want to crack a joke at a group of "high and mighty" individuals that have members that can't control their drinking and are pedophiles I will. They took religion and propogated it to fulfill an absolutely sick perversion. And there was a hell of alot more then one of them. There is no forgiving that, and anytime I have a chance to rant about those true asses I will.

Jest and blatent stereotyping insults are a world of difference.

Just because some catholic prissts did something wrong, doesn't mean that every priest in the world is a child molestor. If someone in your place of employment was a child molestor, does that make you one?

I find your "humor" very offensive to me, and I asked you to stop. You clearly don't get the meaning of manners or courtesy and that makes you the ass.

So if you don't mind, please stop making yourself look like a bigot and demeaning people. Random insults are not a manner of discussion, and as far as I'm concerned are not welcome around here. If you want to discuss this in a mature manner, I'm all for it, but cracking jokes about children who were molested is neither funny or a form of "voicing your opinion".

I specifically stated the there were a hell of alot of them. Also I suggest you look at where the joke was placed before you try to turn it around and say I joked about the children.

I know you stated there were a lot of them. It doesn't change the fact that there are an overwhelming majority that didn't. No, I'm not trying to justify anything, but I am saying that it's unfair to those who haven't done anything to brand them as child-molestors. Calling someone a child molestor is a bold statement. I am simply trying to let you know why I am annoyed at the fact that you are insulting a group of people who don't deserve it. Clearly your reading skills are lacking because you are pursing to sling insults left and right after I kindly asked you to stop.

If you are implying that I am somehow a bigot and that I'm demeaning you, you are a horridly mistaken. People who demean others then somehow try to turn the tables when they are called on it have some problems facing the truth. I'm not a bigot because I'm not trying to make my way of life or my beliefs out to be better than yours, I am, however, trying to tell you that the crap you are posting is not appreciated. If that makes me a bigot in your eyes, or demeans you in any way, perhaps you should consider the possibility that you are a self-righteous, self-centered, poser grasping for some sort of attention and pity from a crowd of people who have little tolerance towards prejudice. But that's just a suggestion, and maybe you'd be better off taking the suggestion to take your ideas where they may be appreciated or respected, but that isn't here.

Nope, not at all. You decided my actions on this post required you to make a judgement about me even though those actions represent a very small part of the whole. You still decided that this small thread was worthy of calling me a biggot. Except that if we use your arguement you can't do that. After all I ahev said alot in my life, and what you saw was an extremely small amount of it. Don't condemn others and do the same thing yourself. You are a religious guy, right?
 
Props to the Catholic Church for not letting priests be normal human beings, and therefore contributing to problems with pedophilia and abuse. And also for trying to sweep all the nasty little problems under the rug.

What the hell is wrong with them, that they are so out of touch with reality?
 
Catholic priests can't get married. Sexually abusing underage kids is usually accepted according to the internal policy.

Yeah, your posts have given me all the insight I care to hear. A bigot is defined as "One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ." From you stating that all catholics are somehow alcoholics or child molestors, and you don't bother to take to light what I've been saying, then I have all of the evidence I need to make my opinion on you.
If you have a problem with me calling you a bigot, then stop acting like one.
Then you go and try to turn the tables again, as if I am somehow at fault for accusing you of doing things I do myself.
The fact that a small percentage of priests were involved, and that's my reason why not all priests are child molestors, and the fact that you have openly stated your opinion in a very rude and deaming manner, and that I called you on that is far from hyporcrisy.



Why don't you take a while and think about things before you try to post more garbage trying to make me look like the one who is somehow out of line here.

 
When I still went to church, we had a substitute priest that had children. He was married, but then his wife died, and then he became a priest.

The church was tired of supporting the priests wife and hiers upon his demise so they declared they could'nt marry anymore around 1550 AD. IMO has screwed the crurch and got plenty of malcontents in the priesthood while excluding very good people.

The reason why people are bashing priests is because there is a big problem in the catholic church. This is not an isolated problem. Reports of priests molesting children are all over the country in ALARMING numbers. I think its sick and I think the catholic church is even sicker for covering it up and protecting these guys. Its very hard to have respect for the catholic religion and the catholic church when it seems like its a breeding ground for molestors. They're all sick.

People always want something to bash, no big deal. It's a tough descision to make, as I'm hopefully entering into the seminary in the fall. People can call me anything they want. They don't know me, or anything about me.

If you want to be a priest, pray, and do some research. If you find a calling, go for it. If you aren't sure, give the seminary a shot. Many guys find that it helps them decide a career or make other tough descisions. Lemme know if you have any questions.

Criminals of all stripes prevade every catagory of race /religion and sex. That does not however give free license to go beyond pointing out the facts, such as making sick jokes, etc.

Ill give an example. I remember about 10-15 years ago black people used to complain all the time in the editorial section of our local paper how the media always used to point out the color of people perpetrating crimes. Eventually it stopped.

The Catholic church will never go away. The ex-priests are defrocked and removed, jailed, etc. But will the bashing end? The majority of bashers seem to always be athieits, protestants, pagans, etc, so probably not. They hate the Church because they dont matter. If wasnt this controversy it would/will be something else.
