It's easy to find worse pizza than Little Caesar's. Like, really easy.

I'm not sure I've been in a location where the $5 pizza was still $5 in years though, even when I was still in Nebraska.

You wont see many locations at 5.55 either. Over 50% of their locations are higher than that price point. You should see that price point this month though as they're treating it as a LTO for advertising purposes. Which gives them some pricing control during that period.

I bought one today, and it was more than $5. It's been that way for awhile, but it's gone up and down. I can't remember what I paid. It might have been $5.55+tax, but I'm not sure. It was <$6 OTD

I do not like dominos pizza. I'll eat it if offered, but I'd never buy it on my own accord. I'll just get something altogether different if that's one of the choices. I also don't like papajohns much anymore. I used to think it was a pretty decent pizza, but either it changed, or I did. I would consider buying that on my own, but it wouldn't be my first choice. I'd have to really want a pizza to go there.

Don't do big box pizza places. Find a nice mom n' pop pizza operation near you and give them your money. Gonna be better pizza for similar or a little more money.

Or best of all just make your own damn pizza. Cheapest option with whatever topping to sauce to dough ratio you want. And a large is still a large.

Normally, I tend to agree. I was at my mother's once, and walked to the store to get a pizza. There was an indie at the first stop, and two doors down littlecaesar. I passed the indie, stopped, thought "put your money where your mouth is", turned around, and went to the indie. For only 300% more money, I got a much shittier pizza than I'd have gotten from littlecaesar, and it only took about 500% more time. What a deal!

The cheapest local pizza joint option here is $19.50 for a pepperoni (before tax, so it's a 1:1 comparison). That's not "a little more money".

That's a lot more work.

- I mean, you'd want to generally establish that its a decent place first. Lucky to have 2-3 solid local pizzerias where I live that all have an interesting twist on their options (Greek pizza place, Peruvian pizza place (solid burritos/tacos/etc as well)) as well as a Round Table Pizza, which tends to make pretty solid pizzas for a chain.

The cheapest local pizza joint option here is $19.50 for a pepperoni (before tax, so it's a 1:1 comparison). That's not "a little more money".

- $5 hot n ready's are more like pizza bread than they are actual pizzas in my experience. Crap ingredients, massive amount of bread to topping ratio, toppings are all bottom barrel crap. Local places have a huge amount of variance in quality, but I suspect that $20 pizza is worth the $20.

The biggest pain in the ass for homemade pizza is the dough, and you can get pretty good frozen premade dough at your local supermarket.

I dunno, as I've gotten older I realize that I'd rather pay some more for less better quality stuff than cram my face full of the cheapest mountain of calories I can find. I've been burning out hard on AYCE Sushi & hot pot places too recently. Maybe its just me.

im cheap and dont like interacting with people. I can order my pizza on their app and pick it up from the pizza portal. Its not the best pizza, but its cheap and convenient. Plus side to walking in past all the people waiting in line and grabbing my ready pizzas i ordered earlier.

So true. Hahahah...I got shafted so many times like that. I quit looking. Nowadays I just buy the Costco frozen pizza and add my own quality toppings. And it's still better than 99% of the pizza joints in California. I guess most Californians like to eat salt, grease, and wax on top of a piece of gluten-free cardboard.

I remember when LC Pizza, Pizza was actually hand made to order. Dough was made daily and they had the real ovens for it.

It was on Van Born Rd. in Dearborn Heights MI, about 40 years ago. Was really good pizza back then. Just east of Gulley rd.

I have to say, I would rather have the pizza from our nearest gas station, I guess it's Grandfather's Pizza, still frozen pie with cheese and they add the additional toppings, vs a Hot & Ready.

Marco's has good pizza, but I haven't had that in over a decade, due to moving to rural KY. Facepalm.

Haven't had good Chinese food in over 14 years. IMO Michigan had good cultural variety of food. Mexican in KY doesn't hold a candle to the Mexican in MI.

Stepping up to the Extra Most Bestest for another buck goes a long way. That makes it $6.55 to be a more fair fight against the $19.50. The latter is absolutely better, but still, nearly triple the cash, so it depends on if I'm just looking for a hot, simple meal, or if I'm treating myself. That $6.55 will feed me four times, with enough protein in it to keep me full until the next meal.

There's a Chinese place around here that I /think/ is a local chain. They do Chinese, Japanese, and I think Thai. Everything is terrible. I don't know how they screw it up. I can think of a half dozen hole in the wall Chinese places that are far better, and Wegmans has much better sushi. It would be easy enough to avoid, but for some reason, my mother really likes it, so I have to get it much more than I'd like :^(

Marco's was pretty unimpressive when I tried it.

We have two mom & pop pizza places here in town. We drive ~25 miles into Aberdeen for Westside Pizza. It seems to be the best in the region...but a large will run $25 or more without coupons. The two places here are priced about the same...maybe 10-15% more, but not nearly as good.

You guys just made me want cheap pizza. I do have Little Caesars 3 miles away but Dominos is closer at 1.5 miles. Dominos also have the $7.99 large 3 toppings pizza carryout deal. I let my daughter choose the toppings and she chose pepperoni, ham, and pineapple.

nh3lorph.jpg

This was my first Dominos order since 2018. Verdict? It's more than acceptable for $8.61 which is what I paid with tax. Little light on cheese but that's understandable since that's the most expensive part of a pizza. In comparison, even simple Big Mac meal is now $8.39 after tax. So $8.61 for 14 inch pizza 2 people can easily share is not bad deal at all.

Apparently there are like four or five locally-owned pizza places in town and two are good (I've never ordered from the others). Come to think of it, my town doesn't have any chain pizza places, which is pretty cool I guess.

SE MI does have a pretty good variety and quality. Nothing like NY or LA but surprisingly good Mexican, Japanese, Indian, Thai Middle Eastern and even Southern food. I think the auto industry has a lot to do with that since we get a lot of transplants from Asia and Mexico. Does make driving in the winter a bit more exciting though

Sorry to hear that you disowned your daughter
