a proggy to read NTFS with a FAT32 OS ???

i have found a program like this on the net ages ago, but as i didnt need it i didnt download it

anyone point me in the right direction ??

First, there's no such thing as a 'FAT32 OS'

Second, you probably want the NTFS driver from Winternals.com

still dont understand how Win9X kenral OS dont run on FAT32 file systems ?!?!?
everything points to Win9X kernals being FAT32 to me 😕
 
The NTFS driver for Win9x is somewhere in the FAT32 vs NTFS FAQ, that's why I pointed you to it. 🙂

To be really picky Win95a and before use FAT16. But FAT is FAT is FAT and they all suck.

I'm just nit picking semantics, an OS can or can't read a filesystem, it's not based on that filesystem. Since Linux can read FAT32 does that make it a 'FAT32 OS", what about Win2K since it can read it too? No, it makes it an OS that just happens to have a FAT32 filesystem driver.
 
It's not so much that it makes me feel better, it's that you look like an idiot when you call Win98 a FAT32 OS.
 
I just have to say something. First of all, he had a legitimate question. Second if you are not going to be helpful, don't say anything. In my opinion you are the idiot.

I do believe I answered his question.

I also tried to help him with his terminology and understanding of why what he said is technically incorrect. Why does everyone always get touchy when they're corrected?

Heh. He's got a valid point. A file system and an OS are two completely different things. My machine supports read-only NTFS, but does that mean that it is win2k/xp, or even windows for that matter? Not necessarily. And as he said, if you're a nitpicker with semantics (as i am too) it can really irritate you when someone misuses a word. Not to mention he obviously was helpful, he answered the question and gave a lesson on operating systems vs. file systems.
 
Ok, but I'm just saying that people could be more polite about it. Just because some one did not properly phrase a question does not make him or her look like an idiot. They just need more information. I read these forums regularly and get a lot of useful information here. People learn by asking questions. I just don't think it's constructive to be rude. It was obvious what was meant in the title. Theres no need to intimidate people with snide remarks. As I said this is a great place to share information.

thanx reicherb, havent cranked up the program yet, but it will do the job,
pitty its read only though (i havent AU$100)

and about the question, i simply shortened it to fit in the title bar, didnt want to write:

"a program to read an NTFS file system running with an operating system that can read NTFS,FAT32 and FAT16 with an operating system that runs on FAT32 but cant read NTFS at all??""

sorry, but didnt think that would be a sutiable title for a post let alone whether or not it would fit

33 words or 9 words?? i know which i prefer to read......



 
Simply "A program to read NTFS from Win9X" would have worked just as well, and been technically correct. Replace Win9X with whatever version of super-DOS you're using =)
