Hi, I am trying to burn a bin of Diablo II on to my cheap kingston CD-R. Using my creative blaster, which is a 8 4 32, I burned it through the regular process of burning an image file. The image burnt successfully but the only problem is that during the installation of Diablo II from my new CD, an error pops up towards the end of the installation. It says something to the effect of 'application error C:\Windows\Temp\D2setup.exe and F:\setup.mpq'
Is there an error on the CD-R that has been caused during the burn process or is this an error in the bin file itself? I have wasted 4 CD-R's now trying to fix this to no avail.
What do you guys think? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

If this is not a place to post this msg, then I am truly sorry and please go ahead and delete it.

It sounds to me that somewhere in the un-raring process one of the many files was currupt. Unfortunatly, you must start from scratch. Once you have an uncompromised .bin.cue files, you are 99% good to go!

Is there a way by which I can check the integrity of the bin and the cue file after I have unrar'd them? there is winimage that checks ISO's and I have converted the bin to an ISO and checked the iso image and it seemed fine...then again, how would I know if something was wrong?

thereds. Best way to check, in my opinion, is if you still have all the files before raring--- check each individual size of the files. Almost all of them most of the time should be 14.3mb. The culprit will probably be smaller due to a bad download.

I have checked all the rar files and all of them except the last one have the same size. The last one is different, which is quite common.
Could it be my burner?

this is really wierd. I use WinCD to burn all my .bin.cue's. Try doing it @ 1X!

Why don't you try my link and see if you can install using that software. If you can, then you will know that the .bin/.cue is OK and that the problem is with your burner of burning software.

I think it is my burner. I just found out that my burner is one of the crappiest of its kind. The a$$holes at creative won't even release a firmware update, which is why 99% of all creative 8432 owners are getting dicked when trying to burn data CD's. Audio CD's burn properly, may I add.
Some data CD's have burned well and now nothing burns right.

The only option I have right now is to update the firmware using plextors firmware upgrade, which could possible kill my drive permanently. Well then I'd return it and get something new...but I guess the warranty ends if I kill it. The drive is a plextor but has a creative name so the firmware may work.

oh well.
