woohoo.. going to see this show tonight!

I missed my chance a couple of years ago to see it. But, this time everything is lined up - leaving work early, babysitter scheduled, driving directions printed...

Garrison Keeler's horrible singing voice makes my eardrums feel like they're going to explode. If he stuck to skits like Guy Noir, I might be able to stand listening to an entire show.

I always get that and "What do ya know?" mixed up. One is excellent and the other sucks balls.

yeah.. wait wait is definitely better than what do ya know...

GK's voice is an acquired taste. he's not supposed to be Pavorotti.

Last week was a "best of" show, i believe... i cracked up when Sir MixALot said he couldn't find a way to rhyme "bonus" with "anus".

anyway, went to the show last night - seats were $70 each (beer was 6, margaritas were 6).. but we sat 12 rows from the front, dead center.

Although the ticket prices were steep, the cast earned every single cent. The show was 3 hours long - a solid 3 hours long. I could hardly believe it. I don't know if that's the show they will use for the weekly broadcast, but it would be fun if it was.

I had a blast. The Majestic theater is beautiful.

Sometimes, when the light was right and GK stood with his profile to us, he looked like the Emperor from Star Wars - not the young, human version either. But, looks aside, I was amazed with story-telling abilities.

I'm glad I went.

EDIT:
The wife has an "in" with someone high up - we were able to score great tickets to Wicked which aren't on sale until November... that's going to be great.

I've always like "Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!" better.

awesome show. They did a best of show last weekend, and Ice T was one of the guests in the clip. Fucking amazing.

I try and try and try to get into Prairie Home Companion, but I can never completely do it. While his stories and reading voice, musical guests, Guy Noir etc can be awesome, it's his singing and the "noise effect" bits that get me to turn it off.

haha, yeah. I was trying to remember who else was on the show. MixaLot was awesome. Tony Shaloub, Ice T...I forget who else.

Brian Williams was on a few months ago. Holly hell, that guy is just brilliant. Whenever he makes a guest appearance anywhere, plop down and listen. He's one witty bastard.

Is this the radio show on NPR where they just make a bunch of jokes about current events that are actually just bad puns? Or is that wait wait don't tell me?

Anyway, Car Talk is both the funniest and most informative show on NPR.

i hate this show.

i wish they'd take it off the air forever. it's not funny, it's annoying, and it's a waste of time. i wish they'd just load npr airtime with classical music during the mid-late afternoon hours...
