So FSP Source has finally released their Green line of power supplies. These are supposed to be more geared toward people who prefer a Toyota Prius rather than a Ford Excursion. I really like the packaging, from the pictures and the rest of the stuff is basic. According to the tests, it has given rock solid performance. It is priced less than $70, which is a great price for this psu.

Other than being low on heavy metals (and you can't totally get a way with that with electronics) the "green" is all hype.

About as stupid as low-carb Ice Tea (my wife actually bought some!)

yes :D, but it does meet a lot Europe's new standards, some of which maybe we should look at.

its a good start

FlyingPenguin, its better than the old clunks we're used to. The article states that being light weight in this case doesn't necessarily mean a bad thing. The engineers obviously knew what they were doing. I don't think its stupid. Plus its burned in at 50C, so it should be just as good even at those temps.

You know, I'm all for things that are better for the environment, but these regulations coming out of the EU are just plain dumb. Trace elements of lead in the casing of power supplies is such a non-threat their attempt to regulate such things is just plain dumb and a waste of time. These regulators and goverment officials over there should spend more time worrying about feeding those who are hungry in their own countries and abroad.

In regards to the power supply, I do take some issue with the fact that FPS appeared to skimp with higher gauge wire, but the unit appears to be a pretty solid little device. I do applaud FPS for developing something with the environment in mind first, but I'm pretty well convinced they do so more with the intention of winning over the boat loads of ignorant fools who actually think they are doing the world much better buy choosing this Power Supply over something else.

Kind of thinking about it, I bet if people actually ate better food, their farts would emit cleaner gasses and over the span of their lives, that would probably make a 100X better impact on the environment than choosing this PSU over any of the others that are currently on the market. So maybe the EU should regulate what people eat.

Thank God the USA hasn't fallen to such foolishness.......yet......
