Hi, i have a question about PS2.

i just own one for awhile, i want to know how long can i "idle" the machine...

now i am playing Fatal Frame, which i like so much !!, it has screen saver. when i leave the game(pause) the game for a while, red (bloody) hands will be floating around. but this cause it to run/load.

other games like Winning Eleven 6( a soccer game), when i pause the game, it will stay absolutely idle..

my questions are, how long can i idle PS2 when it is freezed(paused) and how long when it is pause but background is running(screensaver).

thanks

bdog231 is correct faye, you can leave a PS2 running forever, I have friends who aren't even aware that a PS2 has a power switch :Q

Well, there're two ways of shutting down PS2. One is by holding down the reset button. Another one is by flipping the switch in the back. I always turn off the first but never the second.

faye,

I can't say for certain, but your PS2 is an expensive piece of electronics and you should treat it accordingly. I'm guessing it won't hurt it in the short term, but since it does have moving parts, then the more you keep it on now, the more likely it will die sooner. Although it is very different, my friends had an XBox that they kept on all the time. When I went over, I asked them why they left it on and why they didnt' just turn it off when done? Well, a few months later, it is broken and doesn't even play games anymore, a $300(then) piece of plastic. The PS2 may be built a bit better, but if it's anything like the PS1(hopefully they improved on it), then I would suggest turning it off when you don't plan on using it for long periods of time. I think I went through like 3 or 4 Playstations and each time it would be because it would start skipping during CGI sequences or just pause for no reason. Hey, it's your PS2, so do what you will, but I always turn my off when I'm done playing(the front power button). I just don't understand why some people are too lazy to do this, maybe I'm jsut obsessive-compulsive. :p
