A Picture Of A Real Thoroughbred

It will be in green packaging now , correct?
If you want to nit pick its not a "real" t-bred...good nuff for me...now where the hell is it damnit!!! 🙂

Well its not really like color really matters all that much, I think AMD let that T-Bred out for pure size comparison of the new .13 die to the .18 die if anything.

I dunno, the core just looks awful big. I guess I kinda expected it to be smaller, but still though, looks sweet😀

Jake, the core is really small, at 80mm^2. 🙂

That's 62% smaller than the Athlon XP. That's a lot of savings and more scaling left to go.

Yah. I know. For some reason I expected it to be just as small as 845's core (I know, it's a chipset, this is a CPU). It should take the Athlon to 2GHz, and then AMD will Hammer away at Intel!😀

<< No heatspreader? >>

Exactly my thoughts. They really need to put one on that little bastard.

I hope they make a version that will work in my Tiger MP (ie 133 FSB), though I would be willing to buy a new motherboard for the ability to drop two of those in.

Viper GTS

Do this work on 133Mhz socket A boards?... in other words Do motherboards that support the Thunderbird 266mhz fsb/AthlonXP also support this athlonxp with the new core?

Maybe with a BIOS update.

I saw in the article saying if Intel goes with a P4/celeron.... that's going to make an aweful CPU!!! Can't wait to see it get killed my the Duron.

no heat spreader?

i think that's the result of maintaining package compatibility...they stick with socket A, they stick w/ the same size packaging...a heat spreader on that type of packaging?...u have to wonder.
