Why do you way its big? If you are talking about the last pic, that mobo could be a mATX/uATX (or even BTX) form factor...

It's shorter than a Geforce 4, doesn't even get to the RAM slots, and the board isn't full ATX anyway, only 3 PCI slots. Probably mATX.
It's actually not that big.
