A personal question -- what do you look forward to?

I'm a little curious to know what drives other people through the doldrums of daily life... So, what do you look forward to in life -- both short term and long term? Are they moments, things, or places? What do you all dream about?

For me, in the short term, it's finishing up writing papers so I can graduate, and working on small hobbies like my computer, building a coffee table. Once in a while, it's desiring some cool electronic item, but not too often, and the desire fades after a while. Long term, I would have to say it's being able to bring about change in this world, and to be of service to greater humanity.

What about you all?

Short term = Seeing people that i like to see and talk to. 🙂

Long term = Saving for my new computer so i can sell my current one and in turn hopefully make a nice bit of moolah. 😀

Well, for the really short term -- spending time with my girlfriend tonight! 🙂

In a month or so -- Seeing LOTR on the big screen and getting my first year-end-evaluation at my job so that I can finally get a raise!

Long term -- Having a family, having my own house, being able to have some time to compose the music I've always wanted to.

Short term:

Going home to my wife and daughter at the end of each day. 🙂
Yummy meals.
Video Games (just bought Metal Gear Solid 2 and Soul Reaver 2)
Friends and cool cool co-workers
My next hockey game
hanging around with my brother
hockey on TV
TV shows I like (Raymond tonight, Frasier tomorrow... The Tick and CSI Thursday)

Longer Term:

Christmas (my little girl is getting a lot of presents!)
The birth of my son (due January)
Promotion/New Job in company - should happen early next year (crosses fingers/knocks on wood)
Getting my little red convertable on the road at last this spring (its just a little 1978 Fiat Spyder, but its fun)

Very long term:

Growing old and senile with my wife
watching my kids grow up

🙂

Really short term (today):

Leaving in seven hours
Talking to my g/f in eleven hours or so
Sleep

Longer term:

Going to see my g/f at the end of December
Being completely out of debt in January

Longer term:

Financing a decent car in February or March (1995 or newer Maxima SE maybe?)
Starting long term investments

Even longer:

Moving to PA or Virginia (summer of 2003 maybe)
Getting married
Kids 🙂

Truly long term:

Owning a Viper (or a Ferrari, or both)
Watching my investments grow
Retiring

Viper GTS

short term - going to work (better than class), weekends, parties, etc.

long term - not having hw when i graduate

Short term: Have fun, working hard for money and get a girlfren later.

Long Term: Build a nice career, get a house and a nice car.

short term; waiting for the stock market to bounce back and watch my investments grow.

long term; move to nyc and start a life in the big city. make more money.

really long term; travel the world and see all of her wonders. meet a exotic woman and have exotic babies!

Short term, spending Christmas with the family.

Mid term, start of the F1 season next year (Forza Minardi!), also spending time in the Mosel area to taste & buy some wine.

Long term, and more of a wish. Change career and get into industrial design. Bit utopic, but perhaps I can pull that off.

Real long term: learning Italian and retiring somewhere in northern Italy, or perhaps southern France or Portugal (in which case the Italian won't be too helpfull 😉 ).

I also plan on becoming a weird and excentric old fart along the line.

I think I'm doing well 😉.

Short term: being with my friends, going to fun classes, getting papers written. SLEEP.

Long term: grad school, job, marriage, kids

Short term while at work: Death or 4:00pm. Whichever comes first.

Short term while at home: Wife, dog, Red Wings, PS2, the thread of hope that someone will create a time machine that night and freeze time so I don't have to go back to work the next day.

Long term: Bigger house, BMW, better job.

Short: The warm smooth feeling of a womans flesh

long: Waking up with that woman in 20 years.

It's all pretty much sex for me.

I look forward to spending time with the girl of my dreams and that is special to me. And finally get the balls to tell her how I feel and make a move.

Longer term: To be with her still and know exactly bow she feels. Go to KCL and study CS. Live in London and have fun, meet new people etc.

Short term: Seeing my boyfriend this Christmas break.
Longish term: Moving from Davis to Santa Barbara. Only five more quarters to go!
Long term: Getting married. [Edit] Looking forward to medical researchers discovering a cure for arthritis. 🙁 [/Edit]

Weekends, other vacations, paychecks, buying things, seeing family.

Pretty usual and probably reasonable grounds for somebody to consider me another product of society (oh well).

Short term: graduating from college

Longer term: getting a job, hopefully in Europe, buying my first car (a BMW?)

Insert Here --> Coming back from Europe to attend the wedding of ViperGTS and TheBlondOne 😀

Even Longer term: being happy with a job, getting married, maybe start a family

Longer still: Using what wealth I have to influence my community, maybe fund some Christian missionaries

60 years from now: Die and go to Heaven

I've been thinking about this a lot recently.

All my short term goals are focused around my own physical appearance. I'm basically changing how I look and feel.
- Lose weight [DONE - lost 60lbs]
- Ability to do 50+ pushups or so / leglifts / crunches (On my 2nd week so far, did 2 reps of 15 pushups last night.... weak still!)
- Looking to buy a treadmill / stationary cycle / free weight system (This goal will only go into affect after I can do 50 pushups)
- Get a tan 🙂cool😉

Once all these goals are done I'm going to do quite a bit of traveling because I realized I don't want to live in this craphole all my life. So my long term goals look something like this.
- Travel the world (or at least Canada, Hawaii, California, Etc)
- Increase my cash flow (I'm already working fulltime but I would like a bigger job)
- Buy a house in the area I like the most

Somewhere within all my longterm and shortterm goals, I'd like to find the perfect woman too 🙂 Hopefully before I get too old!

short term - 2:55 (when I get out of school)

long term - one day to have a great wife and kids along with money and hopefully my own company.

short term -- finish degree (soon, very soon)
long-term -- avoid bureaucratic settings and involve myself in research/work that I actually feel is going somewhere 🙂 learning new things constantly, travelling, meeting interesting people
