A personal CHALLENGE ...2 Million a day! I mean it this time !!!

Updated because this first post was a little confusing:

Originally, I challenged the members of Team Anandtech to raise the RC5 output levels from around 1.3 million to 1.5 million in a two to three week period (this was around 2 weeks ago from today)...We immediately jumped up to 1.5 Million and I was prompted by several members that the number might not be high enough...So I bumped it up to 1.7 million in the same 3 week period (That's per day every day after the three week period! 🙂)..

Our numbers then proceeded to fall back to 1.1 to 1.3 million range, and sadly 🙁, I changed the goal to 1.5 million as to achieve one smaller goal at a time than one huge goal that would sorta demoralize everyone if we didn't make it....As soon as I lowered it, several members gave feedback 🙂 that the goal should indeed remain at 1.7 million per day after the three week period...Ray in particular 😀

So, after thinking, it's back up to 1.7 million per day....for now...!

I personally think the goal should be "whatever the DPC flushes each day + 1 (or more)"...How about that for a real goal....

You guys and gals are doing fantastic work.....I am proud to be a part of this group!

Have a great day all and have some fun today...

😀

P.S. And to all the guys who promised that we would be there, I'M WAITING😉

Perhaps if everyone started carrying a floppy in your back pocket with the RC5 client--think, every time you go to the doctor, dentist, car repair place, your minister, whatever, there is a hapless PC waiting to be assimilated. Cocktail parties would be a great opportunity, slip into their den, install the client, and if you get caught, start taking a whiz in their potted palm mumbling about too much to drink and isn't this the bathroom? 😉

May have some explaining to do about that cow icon, haven't figured that out yet...

2 of Borg has made a decision to enter the decidedly "Icky" world of Linux.

Get ready for Crack-racks 3, 4, and 5....

My Engineers are already "nix toads" - we're starting to build. 🙂

JimMc Unfortunetely, that's not a good idea to install it without the owners knowledge...it could get the team disqualified. 🙁 But, I actually do carry around a floppy for when I have potential assimilee's, and I also have my dnetc.ini file in my "anyone-can-get" folder for AOL instant messanger (curse AOL, but love the features to grab files from myself 🙂 )

Russ Hey! You can't say that line! You're borg, not Captain Picard!

WulfThere's no such thing as a PR 200 (it never came out - max was PR 166, which was 116 mhz)....unless they are OC'ed 🙂

DanC - This is really great news. Will you posting pics of your crackrack 3, 4, and 5?

RC, Yes Sir, absolutely. I'm going to need help, and will be a whiny cry-baby - because I'm an NT geek and UNIX (or variants thereof) SCARE ME.

But... I'm going to give myself to the 'dark side'

Luke, Luke... where are youuuuuu????

DanC - I guess you're not from the DEC side of the business? Herds of Vaxen running Unix once ruled the net ....

Michael

Well... sadly I must report that I was originally hired as a DEC guy. But - My VAX experience is limited to VMS 5.5

I guess I survived, but my role is management, so I have to struggle to keep my hands in the true honor.... "geekdom" 🙂

Since it's not a full blown Unix install there really won't be that much Unix knowledge required. I'm also going down the same path with a crackrack of OC'ed Durons.

I will need to pick up on some fundamental networking knowledge - do I use a switch or a hub? Little things like that. I will also need to install a pproxy to keep the herd fed and to be able to monitor their status.

RC - a hub should be fine, a crackrack will not generate enough traffic such that a switch is needed.

Michael

I know Ultrix and DEC-Unix on Alpha boxes. Many years ago I developed software under VMS 4.1 or was it 2.1? I forget.

Am working on a co-student to form a miniteam on behalf of TA. He has three comps @home. Maybe more to come.

Will keep you updated.

well i think i shall try a bit harder to assimilate some more of my clan memebers, and to get one cow back up and running. i may add a few more mhz. i think i can do it.

oh yeah and anotherthing, can anyone send me a big in.buff, say 50k or so, i need it to give to a hungry dualeron powered cow that doesn't get flushed very often. thanks

Sys,

When do you need the buffer?
If tonight is ok, then I will email it. I do have net-access at work, but can not email that easy.
