A pair of questions for my server build

Hi all,

I am building a server for the first time to stream my media and back up my computers, and I have a few questions. The hardware is:
-HP ProLiant N40L Ultra Micro Tower Server System (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16859107052)
-WHS 2011
-no hdds yet...but a tb hd or two for now seems likely until prices go down.

1. Would installing a small (32 gb) sdd make sense to install the OS onto? I have one laying around, and I was wondering if this made sense.

2. Does it matter what order my networking goes for a new switch I bought? I can go:
-Modem >> Switch >> Wireless router
-Modem >> Wireless router >> Switch
I assumed it doesn't matter, but I thought I should check.

Thanks for all the help!

1. pretty sure that WHS wont allow an install onto a small volume. I am sure that 32GB falls short of this requirement. dont know if the z68 caching (SRT) would help

2. personally my setup is like this:
-modem>>wireless router>>gigabit switch

the computers i stream to and have the server on use the gigabit switch, as my wireless router is only 10/100. 'mainstream' internet wont be saturating a 100mbps link for a while.

1. I don't see why not if WHS will let you do it. It wouldn't make any sense to buy an SSD for this purpose, but you might as well use it if you have it laying around.

2. You must do:
Modem -> Router -> Switch
unless you pay your ISP a lot of money for multiple public IP addresses. The router is what takes all of your internal 192.168.x.x addresses and translates them to your single public IP address.
