I'm very sorry to hear this OK...but I do understand and respect your point. As far as "science" or "stats".....I must add that I'm not in DC for much of either right now....I'm around because I've always enjoyed the "TeAmmates". People here care.....the post about my brother and all the heartfelt prayers and thoughts really show what a TeAm we have.

I hope all the best for you and really hope you do stop by and say "hi" once and awhile...

Yikes, this caught me somewhat by surprise. First I would just like to say I?m sorry and hope someone didn?t offend you that caused this and I?m sure didn?t mean to. Many have already posted so many great tributes and accolades of the TeAm spirit that I believe whole heartedly exists so strongly here that I wouldn?t even be here without it. You?ve been a great TeAmate and one that everyone looks up to and you will be missed, no doubt about that. One can only hope you have a change of heart for all the right reasons.

Only thing that I would like to add is that the current climate or mood of all the racing or drive to be number one is actually part of the overall success story in the evolution of DC in general. If it doesn?t appear to be as much helping or bettering DC challenges is because the DC Challenges themselves have become more plentiful and not needing as much help because the Technology is a success and has been becoming part of the mainstream and ?Norm? of computing. Basically like there is less help needed in actually getting a PC to run itself (sure don?t miss those days).

Finally I don?t believe everyone is caught up in the ?Rah Rah?, many have been focusing on many other Humanitarian matters that have become so important during the current downturn of the economy and threats to all of our well being as we struggle to cope with the trials of us all living together on this planet without killing each other (seems to be Man?s weird way of population control since we don?t have a natural predator other than ourselves). Others have been peaking over the shoulder looking towards the next innovations and evolutions of the PC and Internet such as Wireless and quests for High Speed access for all. Also there isn?t a Forum just for the struggles but there probably should be as the Technology itself is in the hot seat in the highest of places in Political turmoil as private interests as well as the Governments decide who gets what and who doesn?t with such issues as the DMCA, P2P and FCC access rules for Broadband in the U.S. just to name a few.

As Woodrow said earlier I too am saddened and this is a sad day indeed. I too wish and hope the best for you in your future endeavors and hope you find what you quest for.

Always Best Regards,

Dave McOwen

Godspeed OK. We're all here for a common cause, and through that cause we become friends and take an interest in all aspects of life, online or off. Being the best you can be is my aim for everything in life, and if that comes off like being obsessed with being number one, then so be it. If we were all the best we could be in all things, the world would be a better place IMHO.

Orange Kid,

I understand where you are coming from with this thread, but I don't think the forum is closed to new DC ideas. True, much of the area is used up by stats posts and bragging about new rigs and such. Still, there isn't much to be talked with projects about besides those things. All the merits and problems of a project are usually established at the beginning. As the project goes on, these things are straightened out and the only thing to talk about is the progress it is making, in est, the stats.

I would also like to say that when I post in your weekly stats thread I do two things. I quote my stats, mostly for my own good, but more importantly I say, "Thanks OK!" I really do mean "thanks" when I say it. It would truly be a shame if you would stop your input to the TeAm and this forum. I've looked to you as a team leader ever since I joined the team. It would really sadden me to see you disappear from our community.

With that said, thanks once again for all the work you've done for the TeAm!

Christian
I was going to post but you pretty much said exactly what I was going to say so I'll just quote you.

We'll miss you Orange Kid... :(

And here I thought things were going good because we were all working together for one goal (TA DC Dominance) and haven't had any big controversies in a long time.

Lets face it DC projects are a competition with a worthy goal. Those that don't like the competition part don't have to join teams.

Yep, I agree that we would have done well without the drama.

Far too many valuable AT members have been where you are now Orange Kid though not all have reacted so.

Our reaction to difficulty defines us, and not all here in this forum are deserving of such a rant.

Have a beer and relax and unwind in the TA hot tub for a while, the chicks are on the way.

The pendulum swings forth and back, forth and back: through excitement, boredom, glee, frustration, futility, as well as, every other emotion.

It would be far better for one to lurk in this forum, until the pendulum swings to a better place, than to flame in rightous self-destruction.

Negativity is all too easy...The true challenge lay in positive creativity.

We of this forum should be positively motivated by challenges, not negatively defeated by them.

Turn from the Dark Side, for once you start down that path, forever will it dominate your destiny.

Sorry you feel that way, but I will say that I have stuck with TA for almost 4 years now, from RC5-64 now to DF and D2OL, yes it is a competition, that has been what is the driving force for some to assimilate more machines( RIGHT DANC?). We as a team have grwon to a much larger team as teh number of Distributed Computing Projects have grown. If the team updates for the various projects upset you, sorry! It is one way of keeping the support up for each other and to provide feedback. There is also one heckuva family here in the TA forum, and we have seen alot of people come and go, but we have also been here for one another, providing more support to one another than anything I could expect from what I consider my closest co-workers! This is my online family and my friends, I DO NOT SUPPORT YOUR DECISION! You will be leaving one big family that will be here!

This a bolt out of the blue!:Q:( (unless I've missed something?)

I and many others will be saddened if you really do leave us OK:( ,especially with the amount you've done for the team & being one of the earliest members.
Can't think what else to say except what NWM & Yield have said

We'll miss you OK :(
