same. demo seems to be really buggy.

I thought that was the point. You can call them up to help out when you're under attack, but they die off slowly...like mercenaries from AoM....maybe it's not how it's supposed to be, but I just accepted it

too bad slowly means about 100hp per 30seconds.

as for preists, use high poly models. not a big hit on performance and preists dont get implaed/floated.

My minutemen never die though.... I figured they would when their HP went way low, but they keep living.

My minutemen die with just one shot from a villager.

group them with a lot of calvarly/skrimishers. the cpu will shoot whatever is closest first so that usually means the calvary will take all the damage while your 1 hp minutemen fire away happily.

Bruce Shelley from Ensemble Studios said that they've fixed 11,726 bugs so far. However, he implies that there are a ton left to fix. Some of the bugs you see are from them over-zealously deleting content for the demo version. Considering their previous games, I would say that almost all of these bugs will be fixed before the game is released.

I think they found a nice balance between keeping true to the AOE gameplay and introducing new concepts and game mechanics. I've been finding it hard to enjoy historically-based RTS games after Age of Kings. (Rise of Nations came close, but I burn out on that fast) Age of Empires III seems to capture my attention again. I'm enjoying what I've seen so far. But yes, they need to reduce the UI size. Maybe they need an option in the menu for a slim/expert UI. I think they'll pull through. I respect them and their work.

I figured it out. I watched their HP quickly decline when they are deployed until it hits 1/300 (minute or so later... go figure). I guess they are only supposed to be deployed while your city is under attack and your other armies are elsewhere on the map. I just assumed the minutemen would be like veteran skirmishers with less HP but with normal range instead of long range like the skirmishers. A history lesson for ES, minutemen could be ready and out the door in a minute, not out the door and weak within a minute :)

i think the demo is great. graphics are top notch. as far as the gameplay is involved, some peeps here say its the same as AOK - why fix it if it aint broke? AOK was praised for its awesome gameplay so kudos for ensemble for keeping AOE III gameplay simliar to AOK.

I suppose I should have replied here. A friend gave me the W2K workaround and the game runs fine on 2K. Microsoft is so freaking retarded, not for claiming they won't support an outdated OS, but for purposefully BREAKING something that RUNS FINE on said OS. All you have to do is run the install file with a /a I believe and it will do a network install to a specified location. Then you can run the program from the network install location.

Oh and I liked the demo. I havn't had much time to play it but the concepts they brought forward seem really nice. I think it is cool that citizens don't walk all around the place anymore, but at the same time I think you lose some of the strategy normally involved in an RTS game by removing this concept.

I thought some of the deaths and unit use was very original, such as first generation cannons, infantry and cavalry don't really have any method of destroying a cannon, but they kill the man, which knocks his horse onto the cannon and destroys part of it.

I like it. I still wish there was a way I could select certain amounts of people when i have them selected. (ex. 9 villagers selected, click on picture 3 times, 6 villagers selected) I use this a lot with villagers when sending them to other resources. 3 to trees, 6 to gold, etc plus I do it a lot with troops, I select all of them, click the direction I want them to go, and then divide them up where I want them at that location while they are moving.

I'm not too big on RTS, StarCraft was awsome though, I though I would give this game a try, but the lack of a tutorial, just left me confused. No actually enjoying what I was doing, so F it, uninstalled it. Can't believe they didn't include the tutorial, you would think these guys would have a brain and market their demo better with a tutorial, but no. Idiots.

This game sucks, i agree with Lucu, there will never be an AOE as good as the first one. The 2nd one was even worse than this.

a lot of people are saying there are bugs (i only played the demo) but some things are actually part of the game. when you attack a creep and he runs away coming back with full health is not a bug. it's part of the game so creeping isn't so easy early on. and minutemen aren't supposed to last a long time so they lose health as a timer ;). iw ish this game came out 3 years ago...seems outdated now.

The interface is HUGE! And I though Kohan 2 was bad. What were the developers thinking? Keep wanting to zoom out. This by itself is a show-stopper for me. Note to developers.....see how the TA interface was done and copy that.

Bah. I feel depressed after trying the demo out for a couple of hours. I think I know why...

There are aspects of it that are "too" realistic, I guess. A lot of the fun of AoE2 was actually seeing British Longbowmen ward off Persian Elephants. Matchups with extreme differences will not be found in this game. Too bad, really.

I just don't care about what's going on in this one.
