A noob comment: WTF...

Why are there so many video media types? It's pissing me off as I have to have 10+ programs just to view videos....

The following differences I can tolerate:
Real Player
Quick Time
WMP

But WTF is up with millions of codecs within one type of player? I'm fed up with installing divx, xvid, indeo codec, codec this, codec that....

WHY?ASDFJASKLDJFKASF

[/end rant]

download the k-lite codec pack or something similar, it'll cover everything important

Yes, I too hate all these different formats, they need fewer formats

After my recent format/reinstall, the only codecs I needed to install were the latest versions of mplayerc, ffdshow, dsp2dshow, RealAlternative, and Quicktime Alternative to play every video file in my collection. Didn't even need to install the AC3 codec.

Yes. MORE formats, that'll solve the problem of too many formats. Definitely.
