A Nicholas Cage movie that might actually be...gasp...good

I dunno the name but I saw one of his movies on Flix or something last week, he could see into the future, not the best acting and it was slightly confusing because I never seemed to know when it was really happening or when it was one of his visions. But I still enjoyed it, he's a good actor to me.

They need to give him a part in this Robocop remake that's in the works.

Nic Cage is like the anti-Daniel Day Lewis. He will sign up for any script put in front of him while the latter will basically just avoid anything but the absolute best. Or does he make them the best? Hard to say.

.......

There Will Be Blood

HORRIBLE

That movie was awesome. 🙂

I.......drink.....your.....MOTHERFUCKING MILKSHAKE!!!!!

Vampire's Kiss (cult classic dark ccomedy)
Wild at Heart (this is on SphinxnihpS' top ten all time films list)
Raising Arizona (this is just barely off of SphinxnihpS' top ten all time films list, and is a top 5 Comedy)
Adaptation (this movie is good despite featuring Meryl Streep, but I forgave The Deer Hunter too...)
Leaving Las Vegas (was this an Oscar winnar?)
Moonstrcuk
The Cotton Club
Birdy
Peggy Sue Got Married (awful film... that he was terrific in!)
Fast Times at Ridgemont High (yeah just a terrible movie...)

in other words, this thread is utter fail due to the opinions of the original poster

lol, wtf?? we have a ton of people in this thread posting they like him and then in the Bangkok Dangerous thread, everyone is bashing him.

make up your mind ATOT!!!

read the several posts in which it is stated that he's been in very good, to excellent films (performance matching) as well as truly horrible films (performance matching).

If you notice, people are listing the movies in which they thought he was quite good, while acknowledging the crap out there. The good flicks seem to be pretty unanimous.

It appears that Bangkok Dangerous is one of the truly horrible films, though I haven't seen it.

I think these posts were quite clear in that assertion.

what's wrong with Meryl Streep? She's probably the most versatile, talented, and successful actress in the history of film. She's excellent in just about everything she does. ....Mama Mia notwithstanding 😉

You must be thinking of Faye Dunaway or Holly hunter.

ummmm, no. Streep has more talent in her little toe than either of those. Not that Dunaway or Hunter are bad, that's just how good she is.

Dunaway has maybe 2 or 3 roles that people remember her for (and in Chinatown, she's best remembered for a particularly hilarious lapse in drama).

Streep has what, 7 Academy nominations, alone?

Personally i like Jodi Foster better than any of the 3 mentioned, if you are just talking great actresses.

as for nic cage, love him or hate him, he has been a huge hollywood success. it's just interesting to me how many movies he makes. of the top male actors out there, he must be in the top 3 or 4 for most movies made in any given year.

No mention of Ghost Rider? Another awesomely bad (or badly awesome?) movie in the same line as Con Air.

naw, con air was awesome with a bit of cheese.
ghost rider was cringe worthy bad. villian in ghost rider was laughable. john malk in con air was awesome.

Lord of War was pretty sick.

I'm curious why you think that? To me it was meh because the underlying theme of weapons doesn't excite me.

Oh, I don't think it's valid in terms of any political rhetoric (is any hollywood film these days?) but the action, the obsession with guns, the political references, the hot babe (well she is hot for being 38) and the interesting conclusion was pretty enthralling for me.

Then again I'm pretty much a generic dude when it comes to movies like that. I am prejudiced against horror movies, hate horror movies, they just creep me out, I like Hitchcock suspense.

I'm more in the vein if Ridley Scott's historical epics, and Akira Kurosawa's Samurai flicks.
