A nice SCSI hard drive...

What is a nice SCSI hard drive, and how much are they running.. Im looking at something around the 10-15GIG mark. Doesnt have to be big.. Just fast.. I havent been keeping up with SCSI so thats why I am asking..

You want SCSI3.. its 160MB a sec max.

ATLASII is a 10,000 RPM HD (fastest IDE is 7,200). A 18 gigger is like 200.

Cheetah is a 15,000 RPM HD. 18 gigger is like 300.

Both needs a SCSI card of Scsi2 or better, Tekram makes some nice ones.

I dont have SCSI tho so if anything is wrong, im sorry 😉

SEAGATE CHEETAH 18.4GB ULT160 SCSI 68 PIN 15000 RPM 3.9MS

Fastest SCSI hard drive I do believe at the moment.

$760 Canadian from Ncix for a bare drive...

Ok, lets look a little cheaper then that.. Heheh

I have a 12.9 GIG drive, but its getting kinda small, and its damn slow...

So I want a SCSI drive thats about 10GIGs, for O/S and Apps.. and I'll have the old IDE as a file drive, IE. MP3's.

I would go with the 15k 18gig drive, has an incredible 3.9msec seek, and you can get one, with tekram SCSi card, for around $450 (I think)

If you're looking for something moderately cheap, the Maxtor/Quantum Atlas 10K II (not the Atlas II which is an ancient 7200RPM drive) and Seagate Cheetah 36XL are both good drives to look at. Both come in 9GB and 18GB, under $200 US for the 9GB. I would recommend Hypermicro too, but I don't think they deliver to Canada, so you may have to look elsewhere.
