i have an adaptec 29160 card and i was wondering what i should be seeing during bootup when my drives are being recognized. i have a scsi fujitsu mag3182LC hd, a yamaha 8x4x24 cd-rw, and a pioneer 303s hooked up to the controller.
(i have the two drives daisy chained to the 50 pin connector and the hd connected to the lvd connector.)

right now i see:

fujitsu mag3182LC : 40
yamaha 8x4x24 : 20
pioneer 303s : 20

should i be seeing "80" instead of "40" next to my fujitsu mag3182LC. the specs for the drive are here:

http://www.fcpa.com/product/prd_product_frame.html

everything works fine, i just want to make sure im getting the optimal performance from my hardware. also are the two disk drives performing optimally? is this the correct setup? please help!!

Your harddrive info is hard to find. Here is the URL.

http://www.fujitsu.co.jp/hypertext/hdd/drive/overseas/mag3xxx/mag3xxx.html

Go into your SCSI BIOS (Ctrl-A) and under boot spec (if I remember it right). Make sure it's running its default Ultra160 on ID0 or you can manual set at 80. See if anything turn out. Since I am away from town and don't have my computer in front of me. I can't really tell you the detail. Good luck!!

i connected the hd to the lvd port on the 29160 with a lvd compatible cable and now nothing is working. i am also using a SCA to LVD converter(80 to 68 pin ). when i connect with the old cable which is not lvd compatible i get the "40" initialization but when i connect with the new LVD cable i get nothing. it says its looking for scsi devices but cant find any. what should i do now? do i have to reformat the drive so it will see the drive at "80"? i was thinking that by just switching the cable it would recognize the lvd bandwith of "80" but it doesnt do anything. please help!!!
