A new Thief game to be revealed on May 11? Update: Confirmed!

Thief is one of my all time favorite games, I even loved Thief 2 though there was some error on my system that prevented me from ever playing the last two levels. I've still yet to play Deadly Shadows.

If they can make this game as good as the first Thief, I'll jump at it.
 
A Theif game without Looking Glass working on it? I don't know. When we had Ken Levine on our show I asked him about the chances of us seeing another Theif game and he basically said--due to the lack of sales on the last one--that Garrett would probably live on in our hearts and minds.

It totally bummed me out because I think Garrett is such a cool protagonist. I love his anti-hero persona.
 
How are these game? I've never played one before. After reading the metacritic reviews, I was thinking about picking up #3 for PC. Good idea?
 
The original Thief is probably my favorite single player game in the history of the world. Unreal Tournament (UT99) my favorite multiplayer.

Thief 2 was good. The only thing I remember about Thief 3 is that a bug prohibited me from continuing the game about half way through so I gave up.

Sure. You don't absolutely need to know the story from #1 and #2 to enjoy #3. And #3 is an outstanding game. (and has the single creepiest level of a game I've ever played (you'll know it when you get to it))

Sounds like its VERY early on in development, so its kind of surprising they announced it at all at this point. I mean, they're even soliciting ideas in the forum on that page it seems.

Still though, must admit I'm greatly looking forward to playing a new Thief game.

The last one was released on Xbox (can't remember if it went out on PS2 or not, but I'm guessing it did), so I can't imagine this one would be PC exclusive either.
 
Well, looks like we might as well get used to waiting. An Eidos dev confirmed that the game is currently in pre-production and that they are hiring staff for the game. So, we're probably looking at 2012 at the earliest.
