I'll just chime in here and say there is some truth to that asshole+chicks phenomenon. Obviously it's not true for all girls, but it's not completely unfounded. Heck, good female friends of mine have admitted this to me.

Back when I was a clueless kid in HS, there was this girl that I was completely enamored of. I treated her like gold, I'd buy her all kinds of gifts and never said a harsh thing to her. We were kind of on and off though, she couldn't really make up her mind. So basically I figured you know what, screw it. So I went off chasing other girls. We were both the same age/grade and when senior prom hit, she wanted to go w/ me to the prom. Well by then I wasn't interested in her anymore and I went with another girl. God she was pissed. She even threw a temper tantrum at her prom date in class once.

Second example, that blonde girl that I think is hot these days, I treat her like she's not all that. Like when I see her, half the time I just walk by like I don't see her. I mean, she's beautiful, don't get me wrong. But I mean I'm busy these days and I don't want to get sucked into 15 minutes of small talk everytime I run into her. Now for some reason, this gets her attention and she'll ignore her bf to talk to me.

Conclusion, some girls in college/HS, treat them too good and they have no interest. Treat them like they are a dime a dozen and they want your attention even if they are hot enough to melt lead. I hate it because I want to meet the right girl and treat her right. Yeah yeah, they grow out of it, but by then some of them will be all used up by the jerks :Q:Q:Q

I think sometimes that women only like a$$holes. I think that it's more that those type of guys are the better liars. They fake being sweet and caring. Women don't see that these guys are a-holes until later. Whereas the guys who actually are sweet and caring are usually far too shy to walk up to a girl and tell her how he feels. Or in my case I end up saying something that in my head sounds funny and witty to be friendly, but when it comes out I piss off someone. I agree wearing one is better than wearing none. Most people aren't aware of this so I just thought I'd make a point to tell everyone. Just like you said. a bike helmet isn't going give you a 100% protection but it'll help.

I?ve been following these threads and hesitantly wade in although my opinion was openly solicited. I would like to comment that at least UnixFreak is honest with himself about being a player. In my experience, most men will tell a woman all they need to know about any relationship potential in their first real conversation. All a woman has to do is truly listen and take everything they hear verbatim and not try to translate it into something it is not. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt, keychain and the coffee mug. Unfortunately, this is usually learned through a painful experience, but that is the road of life and in the wise words of Frank Sinatra, ?you pick yourself up and get back in the race?. When women meet men like UnixFreak, who are honestly upfront about not wanting a relationship, they only have to decide how they want to spend their energy and chose whether to add a new boytoy to the stable or not; but even that in itself is a relationship. Without having to look too far, sex as a commodity is readily available to women anytime, anywhere and I believe therein lies the ultimate challenge for women: to find the uncommon.
