A new Pentium 4 bug?

Spotted this post at JC's BBS.

There is now some talk of some systems (more than a few, less than alot) failing to POST. Reason unknown.
There is also a nice story of one system nearly catching fire.

"The CPU is not even out yet..."

False. The guys I used to work for received two P4 samples from Intel a couple months ago. These are pre-release, but they apparently work (although I don't know how quickly).

We'll see when the PIV actually becomes available. Hopefully it will be more available than the PIII 1GHz was at its release. Too many people bashing Intel's latest hope without verification. I'm curious as to how credulous you guys would be if the story were about an AMD Mustang instead of the PIV.

LOL!!! That's sad....

Niiiiice......

Despite seeing stories like these about a consumer cheating, lying, stagnant company as funny, I hope Intel does well on their next processor. Amd will become more desperate and lower prices EVEN MORE.

So we get the good stuff for cheap! 🙂

Here is my take:

Until Intel eliminates the "brand surcharge" on their overhyped, underperforming (and soon, overheating) CPU's, there is little reason for any educated consumer to buy their processors--given the AMD alternative.

<<p4 is a waste of money>>

FUD again. I could give you conclusions with the same degree of acuracy using Tarot cards and a Crystal ball.

We need benchmarks! 😀

Probably the power supplies - Intel recommends a minimum of a 400watt PSU for a P4. I think entermax is going to be doing a lot of business in the near future ...

Killfile,
Where did you see that Intel recommends a 400 watt PS for P4? Is this on their website or any other website?
