A new dog, WTF? (updated with pic 08/18/06)

After having to put down both our dogs a couple years ago, Barney (yellow lab), and Blue (dalmatian), I thought it would be a long, long time, to come to a point, where I could have another dog. Those guys were my friends, and when they went, it took a chunk out of me.

Anyway, I've been working my butt off, lots of hours, etc., but my wife calls me a couple days ago, and says she has a "furprise" for me. I said, what, you mean a surprise? All she could do is giggle, and she would tell me later.

So, anyway, I get home. There is the cutest damn little pup, laying in a little doggie bed. She looks like a Doberman, but only about big enough to lay down in a shoebox. Well, as it turns out, she is a 2 year old dog, a Chihuahau! As it turns out, she was adopted a few days ago, by my Wife and Daughter.

At first I was concerned about her health, as. afterall, she was a pound dog. Apparently, she came to us from the animal hospital, freshly spayed, and not in a very good mood. She slept most of the next two days, but finally sprung to life. What a bundle of joy!
She's such a good dog already, very trainable, and so willing to comply. I don't know where she came from, but she's such a sweet dog, I feel so blessed to have her. 🙂

Ladies, and gentlemen, may I present, miss Cricket.............

We're going to talk to her about the "No Skulking' rule

Such a nice little devil!

And my daughter and friend, who helped bring doggie home.

Sorry, gang, pics will be posted soon. I need to get some rest, but expect pics soon...a day or two. 🙂

Your wife is so goofy. Hahaha furprise. In a good way of course. 🙂 I thought it would be more difficult to get a pound dog but in speaking with the vets, I have been told that it is not unusual to get really great demeanored dogs from the pound. Good luck and enjoy!

Sounds great except for the type of dog. I have no use for those dinky little dogs. But as long as you all love him, that's all that matters. 🙂

My latest dog came from the pound and he was put there because he killed the neighbors chickens. He is about a sweet as they come and gets along great with both my other dogs. I guess aslong as I don't adopt any chickens everything will be fine.

I'd say most pound dogs are great dogs but their owners weren't very good owners.

Yeah, truth be told I'd rather see the dalamation as I have 3 myself, but cool dogs are cool dogs either way.

Got my 2 year old mutt from the pound as well. He's awesome, I really haven't had any issues and he's a very smart dog.

It's a Mogwai!

Does that mean I paid too much? 😉

Just don't feed her after Midnight, and... hmm, was there something about keeping them dry?

Cute dog. I know many, many people that have received great pets from the pound, and some via the vet where the owners left the animal there to be put down rather than receive the medical treatment it needed. A co-worker of mine has two dogs she paid for the medical procedures on and took home, when the previous owners just left them at the vet rather than pick them up and pay the bills.

Well, we're gonna spoil her. So far in the past week, she hasn't barked, or given off any of the small rat dog yapper stereotype stuff. All she wants to do is be loved, and we are too happy to give her that. She gives it back, more than she requires. Very happy with her, and that is an understatement! 🙂

First to post after he posted daughter pics ?

ATOT usually jumps right on that. BTW, what mix are you as parents ? She looks like a [good] mix.

I'll respectively say she's a very attractive young lady.

She's extremely cute.

Cute dog. Chiahuahua's can be great little dogs, we have a young male. He needs to get his balls cut off though, he's trying to be a dominant fvcker in a household with two other female dogs.

Congrats!

wowzers! She's cute(your daughter that is)! 🙂

I also like how you refered to the other person as "friend." You mean boyfriend? 😉

P.S. Dog looks like a winner too!
