A new browser game - Grepolis

OK, the Grepolis in game forum is being retarded, so I'll ask here. How do I conquer somebody? I have researched the technology, and I have the boat to do it. What else do I need?
 
I can't believe I missed this thread! So what world are we in and is there any recommended place(direction) to start out?

At this point, I would go for northeast. The current plan is for us to congregate around spartan and ssnail's islands on make a power base to spread from. If I looked at the map correctly spartan is around that section.
 
Ok, I should know better by now (Ikariam and TW sucked the life out of me for 2 years now!), but against my own better judgment I'm joining. I started an account and went to the NE region. I started upgrading my timber/quarry etc, basically a complete noob. What do I do from here? Where are some of the others? Where's Spartan Niner, he's one of the guilty parties in getting me into Ikariam as well 😉
