I remember in my high school philosopy class, my teacher told us that he didn't believe in God, and proceeded to tell us all why he didn't. That didn't bother me any(even though I do believe), but then he asked how many peope in the class did believe and why.
I took that as my opportunity to say yes and explain my beliefs. I wasn't expecting the teacher to be miraculously swayed or anything, but I was rather shocked when he implied that I was foolish to believe in God. At that point, I lost my cool and replied:
"Okay, let's say there is a God and my beliefs are correct; if so, then when I die, I'll go to Heaven, and you'll go to Hell. If on the other hand, you're correct and there is no God, then when we die, that's it and there is nothing more. The way I see it, with each of us choosing to believe the way we do, then you have nothing to gain and I have nothing to lose."
The teacher wasn't happy with me, but he also didn't have any smart comments to make either.
