No, I'm actually very apolitical. What I am is a writer who can appreciate creative phrases! Some of his word choices and imagery are quite tasty, whether it was about the Bush administration or the Clinton administration wouldn't matter to me. But it's nice to see other people get so riled up, hehe.

As nice as the article was, filled with passion and truth, I find a problem with it. It is filled with rage. And why not. The Bush types are a slime on life. It's true. But the author feels the slime on him. He isn't as free as he claims nor does he see the enemy as meaningless as he pretends. He has the intention to hurt back for all the harm that's being caused. But it seems to me that for the man or woman of real knowledge there is nothing to do but love. All these monsters exist because of a lack of love. And all their self pride in how they are is because of how deeply they were hurt. They have turned life into getting even, and if you do so yourself you only add to the game.

I see the real Christian as an ink blotter. Through crucifixion he sucks up the hate.

Well, maybe not, but as a whole I did find that piece to be somewhat satisfying, if only for the irony that the overall presentation was an exercise by the author of vocalizing his frustrated realization that he lacks the power to control. Yes, very amusing.

Zebo, what exactly do you mean by "touched on a personal level"? You saw how poorly (violently) we reacted to 9/11. What's gonna be the reaction when you see Bush essentially doing that to the world every day in a thousand more subtle ways. Bush is anti life and the author's anti-anti-life, but anti-life is life too, somewhere deep down. Unless you have the answer to evil (unconsciousness) in the world maybe you shouldn't be to quick to condemn. How do you feel about things full of anger? What does your reaction mean? Does this author 'touch you on a personal level'?

I mean ----. The author claims Bush and the administrations decisions and personas "can't touch him" while at the same time viceral feelings bleed though his article. Then about the incomprehesible part I mean the administrations actions will shape the charachter of this country and it's people for many years after bush is gone... However the author seems to indicate it will have no effect. I don't think he graps it will or maybe he's an alien observing with indifference. Either way not funny IMHO.

Besides, one can be amused and disgusted at the same time--evidenced by the proliferation of the Friday The 13th franchise.
 
After reading this "editorial", and going to the website, I can only ask this question," can liberals find anything good in our country to comment on while there is a Republican in the Whitehouse'? One gets the idea that as soon as a Republican gets in the Whitehouse everything goes to sh#t and the only way to fix it is by putting in a Democrat. Why can't these public servants do what they were hired to do... make this country a better place to live.

On the can't touch and bleed through we both agree. Many years, from the perspective of some greater truth could actually be a short time. Take out the anger and the editorial makes an interesting point. In the great scheme of things we are all dust. Where does our pretension come from and wouldn't it be nice if we could see it for what is, spitting into the wind. The alien point, I think, is critical. I am constantly astounded, which of course means that I'm never surprised at all by the inevitable assumption that a lack of negative emotion is seen as the equivalent of indifference. The lover is not indifferent to the fate of the world. It's just that negative emotion is not among his palate of tools. I agree also with the thrust of your last sentence except in on way. "...but I feel hyperbole and indifference is better left to those on the dark side.", is not a feeling, it's an opinion, feelings, love rage grief, are not big words. My question is how do you feel about those who don't leave such matters to the dark side. That's how you were personally touched. I'm saying that negative emotions evoke negative reactions. When the other guy has them he's a jerk, but when we do it's because we think our reaction's the proper one, just like the original person did about his own. We are that to which we point. If we are ever going to bring the pointing to and end, it's ourselves we have to see.

Who is Dennis Miller, a way to introduce extraneous particulars into an argument to change the nature of the debate? The author's point that Bush is a flea bight on the ass of time is not an impotent argument, it's just that you'd feel impotent trying to make that case. You are temperamentally unsuited to it. You like to win here and now. In short you are projecting. I'm not inclined, however, to spend a lot of time explaining why I think you are more than just amused since in the next breath you suggest you can be both that and disgusted at the same time. Amusement accompanying and related to disgust I call superciliousness. It's a form of posturing.

While somewhat childishly written (or was that on purpose?), I think it touches upon an important point. This administration is trying to get itself involved in aspects of our private and personal lives that most people do not want it involved in.
I think the writing is on the wall for GW. And while I am by no means a "liberal," I'd rather have the blowjob king in office than the power-mad d!ckhead who wants to track my every credit card purchase. Damn neocons have wrecked the good name of Conservatism, let me tell you... :|
