Ok here's a question I asked a classmate and she felt it would be funny for me to post it on this forum, which I suppose she frequents:
If I believe that someing has both intelligence (no matter how cruel) the capability for emotion (namely hate towards me), is it immoral to then destroy it?

You can only morally destroy it if you are in imminent physical danger. (Or if someone or some noble ideal is in imminent danger.)

How do you gauge the capacity for emotion in anything intelligent other than a human being, as you cannot adequetely communicate with an animal?

That's not immoral, that's retarted. I have a bird I hate with a passion (I asume he hates humans, as he tries to bite every one he sees), I would not hesitate to leave it outside for the cats to maul if my mom was not miss nature lady. If you have a bird and hate it, then by all means kill it or at least kick it out of the house. As for the hard drive........, it sucks so destroy it.

If it's just a hard drive, it isn't alive in the first place, so blast the frickin' thing to pieces if it's pissing you off. A sledgehammer is your friend. 😀

(why don't they have a smily face with tongue sticking out... now i just have to sound dumb and explain that I am sticking my tongue out at the elitist skier who won't even leave Davis for a weekend.. you'd figure it would get used alot)
