After a month of researching, talking to experts, and posting in audio forums, my car system is complete. A did spend an extra week sitting around waiting for my deck to get in via special order. Everything is getting installed as I type, and yes, I do want a :cookie;

Please critique:

Alpine 9815 HU
Alpine Type-R 12"
Infinity 6 1/2" Rear
Infinity 6 1/2" Component Front
MTX Thunder 421D Amp

I also picked up a cap, sub box, some decent cable kits, and a fifth of the $$ spent went to "custom" work. B/C my car orginally had a Bose system, they had to rewire all the speakers.

UPDATE: Got the car back & it sounds awsome, I love the system. HQ crapy pics, 56ks beware. These were taken tonight, with low light...my apologies. The amp & cap are in a compartment in front of the sub(towards the back of the car)underneath the carpet.

Deck w/o Flash
Deck w/overhead light
Sub
Amp & Cap

I hope you didn't buy those @ circuit city..........Etronics.com has the compoments for like $130.............

Also, is your headunit pushing the components?

Nice choice on the speakers. I'm not familar with the head unit or the sub, but I'm sure you won't go wrong with Alpine.

I second the recommendation that you get an alarm installed if you don't already have one.

Enjoy the new system. You'll find that you won't want to ride in anyone else's car...

well, i do have a security system, but not top of the line. Luckily, they are hiding my cap & amp in a compartment in the back, I can remove the faceplate, so nothing real visible.

ah, powered by the HU, I couldn't afford to put more amps in. That's based on what everyone told me, that with the infinity components, they will still sound great. I was going to get the Alpine Type-R component speakers, but then I was told an amp is a must. Got to pricey.

So what do you want a cookie for? You dropped your car off at circuit city and said "Here's my credit card number, put a stereo in it"? Whoopdedo. If you want a cookie you can go buy one with that credit card.

your title is so misleading, I thought you got some custom work done and it took a month to finish, then I said to myself, for $1050 thats cheap, so I clicked on the thread to see what kind of goodies you are getting. ok alpine, infiniti, etc..move on people, nothing special here....

what's wrong with Alpine and infinity? Both have some awesome stuff. But, what I was dissappointed with was the link to the pictures were web sites selling the stuff. I was expecting to see pictures of your vehicle.

well, I knew nothing about car audio, nor have a spent more than a dime or more than a minutes thought on it before this project, I felt it as some sort of an accomplishment. Normally, i just pop in a CD, or tune the radio. I guess I stand corrected...sorry, :(

my title? or your ability to read?

Yes, the title states a month, but the actual posts only talks about a months worth of research, talking to people, etc. Only time I talk about custom work is how much I paid for it..
