for my Shelter herd.
Although not as classic as 'The Garden' not as powerful as JonB's nuclear herd, nevertheless the 5700 mhz Shelter herd has been cracking for TA like the Energizer bunny for months.
Alas, it is no more. Clients removed, buffers copied off and deleted. The Shelter herd is dead. :-(
The last of it's completed work sent on to that Proxy somewhere on the 'net.

<insert funeral hymm here>

Well, hey thanx Dan and everybody.

At least I was able to recover all the completed work, brought it home and dumped it.
Lots of viztech, crackhead and T-Storm work. ~15 Tnodes of OGR, and a number of randoms.

Unfortunately the new guy viciously hacked out the registry service entries for the Dnet clients on the servers and deleted the executables- they weren't bothering anybody. :disgust: At least he left the buffers for me to copy out.

That's OK, there are more and better machines on the horizon, I can smell it. OK, OK, so it's Dan's Trout pond...

There will be!

I'll have a care package in the mail to viztech this week.

Okay, so you'll have to work a little and build some stuff with it, but it'll definitely help!

I have too much time on my hands right now, so that will give me something to do NWM.

Thanx

.......silence........:(

Man, that sucks Viz! :(

/me slaps the guy with the head of the 56lb catfish my uncle had hanging out in the hot summer heat for days...trout ain't got nothing on that stinky bad boy!..grrrr :|

the funny/sad part is he could have saved himself a whole lot of effort if he had talked to you first about what it was, and how to cleanly go about removing it.

Sorry for the herd loss, Viz. :(

We are all pulling for you! :

Thank you all for the encouragement. :)
It is one of the dangers of assimilation when you use work/school machines in the herd. You lose your job, you lose the herd.

Even though there are several machines that still are cracking away, they used remote buffers on the servers to update to the 'net. Without those services running, nothing can make it out.

I'm working hard at getting another job. Hopefully I can replace that 5700 mhz herd with a 57 Ghz one. :p

You might want to keep an eye on this thread for more details
