you must not have heard his comment at some school. he said something like if you don't finish school you will end up in iraq.

Actualy, he was *trying* to take a jab at Bush, saying that if you didn't use your education well, you'd end up getting stuck in Iraq - meaning that the Presidents may be a Ivy school graduate, but he still was dumb enough to get us (the US) stuck in Iraq.

Kerry, not being exactly known for his wit, botched it well enough to make it sound like an insult to our entire armed forces. And his initial refusal to apologize didn't do much to help him, either.

The guy is a total douche, and the best thing to ever happen to the Republican party, but I don't believe he genuinely meant to insult our troops with his failed attempt at biting humor.

The fvcker should just apologize. Even though 99.9999% of Americans (including the soldiers) knew that he didn't mean it against the troops (and why would he being a decorated serviceman himself), he should have apologized FOR THE WAY IT CAME OUT just to put an end to it all. Hell, he should have just apologized right after his appearance to shut the Republicans up.

They just showed the pic on MSNBC :D

Funny pic!

But honestly...who cares? I mean it's only John Kerry. Everyone already knows that he's a moron. Seriously - he couldn't even win an election against a GWB that no one really likes.

That's the funniest thing I've seen in weeks.

We all know Sentator Kerry didn't mean any offense, but nevertheless it's still plenty funny. :)

I give Kerry a pass on his comment -- for Christ's sakes, look at how many jokes/colloquialisms/whatever Bush has mangled.

This, however, is still hilarious!

EDIT: OH NOES, THIS THREAD HAS ENTERED THE TWILIGHT ZONE! (AKA P&N)

He may not have meant to insult the troops, but he did. He further insulted them with his refusal to apologize and throwing a full nutty at his press conference. Instead of defusing the situation he only escalated it.

However, Kerry says what he really meant was that if you do poorly in learning from school, (history class), then you won't learn form the past, and you will end up in situations such as Iraq.

Or, that's what his publicity team told him to say to try to fix the mess he created.

Or the media just took his statement out of context, and it seems much more offensive than it really was.

I heard the recording of what he said and I dont see how anybody could take it out of context.

Well, no doubt he did come off as insulting, but we should criticize the poor sap for being a moron who should keep his trap shut, and promptly apologizing for the times when he doesn't, not for being a soldier-hater.

YouTube video of Kerry's comments.

Ugh, the whole point is that that video does not tell the whole story, because it doesn't contain the full context of the botched joke. That video is worthless. Before the video he was taking jabs at Bush.

Regarding the picture, that's pretty funny. However, my guess is that the military never got to hear the full context of his speech nor Kerry's apology this morning where he repeatedly stated he cared for the troops and that they were smart. The military is trained to follow orders and the commander in chief is telling them Kerry called them stupid. They follow their commander in chief.

Funny that the people who were angry about the muslim protests over the pope's remarks are now demanding Kerry apologize.

Military propaganda at its finest.
Kerry's initial rebuttal was to refuse to apologize. :p

Then, much like his stance on Iraq, he changed his mind.

Well, everyone in the entire world are babies. Everyone needs thicker skin, though even with thin skin I don't think anyone was actually insulted by the Kerry gaffe except for those looking to gain last-ditch political points out of it, Democrats and Republicans alike.

They don't call him "Flipper" for nuthin'.

He even did it within a few seconds on Imus this morning. First he bashed the President for not sending enough troops to Iraq and then he bashed McCain for wanting to send more troops to Iraq.
