But politicians are? You don't listen to actors, you don't listen to scientists, but you listen to George Bush because he says what you want to hear. I'm telling you right now that global warming is a real problem. It is not a part of the natural large scale climate cycle. It is not a minor problem. The vast majority of biologists, climatologists, geologists, ecologists, and geographers agree with Leo. The vast majority of corporate interests agree with George W. Bush. Who do you trust?

1 degree is a huge difference. Think of the varying temperature conditions going up a mountain slope. 1 degree is the differencebetween trees and shrubs, and between shrubs and grasses, between vegetation and no vegetation. Small changes in climate have a drastic effect on large areas and entire ecosystems.

Adapt or die. Just because the weather has be uncharacteristically "stable" over the last ~10k years doesn't mean it's normal.

If I do say so myself, the person here closest to an expert on this subject is ME...

Are you kidding? It hasn't been uncharacteristically stable at all. It's uncharacteristically unstable NOW. I don't see how you can twist global warming resulting from fossil fuel usage into being normal, with the previous condition being "uncharacteristic". We have "fossil" records going way back, obtained by coring high lattitude ice, not to mention geomorphic evidence of past climate.
I suppose we should just pollute all we want, kill all we want. Adapt or die!
Exactly what I was going by, the large charts that show global temperatures over an extremely long period of time, since the last ice age, it's been very stable, and unlike the earlier and more frequent fluctuations....evidence of past climate
No. I just don't think that global warming is fast enough that adaptation cannot occur. I mean, there have been entire ice ages, global winters caused by massive volcanic eruptions; things still found a way to survive, even though temperature changes occured more quickly and by a greater magnitude.I suppose we should just pollute all we want, kill all we want. Adapt or die!
