I've seen some strange stuff while here in Thailand. I see a lot of old guys with super young girls. I'm talking a 30-40 year difference. I saw a 23 year old Thai girl with what appeared to be a 73 year old man. Now, these guys aren't super wealthy, but most do get a nice pension.

It's a regular occurrence here.

I frequent a forum called ThaiVisa. The guys there are mostly in their 60's and above. I'm sure there are younger guys like me on the forum. Anyway, they were talking about how much money they give their Thai girlfriends. A lot of the men were saying they give between 30-50,000 baht a month. In American dollars that's between $950-1,500 a month! These women are mostly bar girls. What they do is they rope in 3-5 foreign men to give them a monthly allowance. If they are pretty and young they can make $3-5,000 USD a month. In Thailand that's an insane amount of money. Most Thais make $8-10 USD a day. Being a bar girl is even encouraged by their patents because of the potential to make so much money from old, fat falangs.

The thing is most aren't rich. They have a nice little pension. You need about 40,000 baht in a Thai bank untouched to get a retirement visa. If these guys were rich they wouldn't be involved with village girls.

Its funny because the regular Thais look at us like were nuts. They wonder what we do we see in these dark skinned women. There is racism in Thailand. Dark skinned Thais are discriminated against other Thais. They favor light skin. The Chinese Thais are at the top of the social ladder because they are educated, have money, and most have light skin.

I felt bad for those guys, being used solely for their money. When the money run out, no more girls/women.

In Asia, those old men are called "tay ba lo", "gaijin", "gweilo" and other slang/derogatory words.

When I taught ESL in South Korea I had a kid in my class and he had very dark skin. The other children would call him dirty and the king of Africa. I had enough and gave a lesson on why people have dark and light skin.

I can tell the difference since I've been in Asia for a while. The big difference between SE Asians and an Asian from Korea or Japan are skin color, height and their noses. Thai people have wide noses, short, and are normally dark. Koreans have opposite features. Most have slimmer noses, taller, and have lighter skin.

If you're not well traveled. I can tell every well by facial features, men or women. Especially by accents.

A well trained eye can pick apart us gringos as well. From the English to Italians, they have their own looks.

Not everyone dies alone. It's good that you're shaping your views around being alone though.

There's someone for everyone if people just looked. I used to love my individual freedoms until I met someone who complimented enough of my needs and desires that it made no sense being alone anymore.

I guess that's correct. A good partner can really steer you in the right direction. I just feel that there are too many guys who depend way too much on women. It's fine to be alone.

Well to be fair I bet a 70 year old westerner has more in common with a 23 year old Thai girl than a 70 year Thai woman.
