A look into FEMA director Michael Brown's emails!

"In the midst of the overwhelming damage caused by the hurricane and enormous problems faced by FEMA, Mr. Brown found time to exchange e-mails about superfluous topics," including "problems finding a dog-sitter," according to Rep. Charlie Melancon, D-Louisiana, who posted the e-mails on his Web site.

In an e-mail he sent the morning of the hurricane to Cindy Taylor, FEMA's deputy director of public affairs, Brown wrote, "Can I quit now? Can I come home?" A few days later, Brown wrote to an acquaintance, "I'm trapped now, please rescue me."

...on Aug. 26, just days before Katrina made landfall, Brown e-mailed his press secretary, Sharon Worthy, about his attire, asking: "Tie or not for tonight? Button down blue shirt?"

A few days later, Worthy advised Brown: "Please roll up the sleeves of your shirt all shirts. Even the President rolled his sleeves to just below the elbow. In this [crisis] and on TV you just need to look more hard-working."

On Aug. 29, the day of the storm, Brown exchanged e-mails about his attire with Taylor, Melancon said. She told him, "You look fabulous," and Brown replied, "I got it at Nordstroms. ... Are you proud of me? An hour later, Brown added: "If you'll look at my lovely FEMA attire, you'll really vomit. I am a fashion god," according to the congressman.

It appears the disaster of Michael Brown was much worse than originally thought!

ummm,
What the guy can't send off the occasional humorus or complaint e-mail to a freind/co-worker?
You never do that at work?

I don't like how the guy handled the hurricane crisis, however I don't see the point in beating him up for something that many folks do.

Because of your views.:Q

You should know that loud mouth anti government people will always get the shaft.😛

I have done a lot of contract work in government offices for years. There is more screwing around on company time in federal buildings than in the private sector. I have serviced office equipment in some agencies where the entire staff in one department will stop working while I repair one persons machine.

Alot of those emails just suggest that Michael Brown is arrogent and from the upper crust of society. The emails that are more damning IMHO are shown here .

These emails deal with the situation before Brownie even went to NO.

From a FEMA official in the superdome:

"...the situation is past critical... hotels are kicking people out, thousands gathering in the streets with no food or water... estimates are many will die within hours," writes Marty

Response from Brownie's press secretary:

"...it is very important that time is allowed for Mr. Brown to eat dinner," she writes. "Given that Baton Rogue is back to normal, restaurants are getting busy. He needs much more [than] 20 or 30 minutes."

More of the same as above, except these directly deal with the issue at hand.

If you read farther down in the CNN article you get stuff like:

The text of the e-mail reads: "Mike, Mickey and other medical equipment people have a 42 ft. trailer full of beds, wheelchairs, oxygen concentrators, etc. They are wanting to take them where they can be used but need direction. "Mickey specializes in ventilator patients so can be very helpful with acute care patients. If you could have someone contact him and let him know if he can be of service, he would appreciate it. Know you are busy but they really want to help." Melancon said Brown didn't respond for four days, when he forwarded the original e-mail to FEMA Deputy Chief of Staff Brooks Altshuler and Deputy Director of Response Michael Lowder. The text of Brown's e-mail to them read: "Can we use these people?"

Keep in mind, 4 days to respond ...

Melancon also charged that few of the e-mails from Brown show him assigning specific tasks to employees or responding to pressing problems

WHY in the hell is this guy still making $148,000 of tax-payer funded money? This is ridiculous. I would have fired that bozo and made him pay me back his salary because of his incompatence.

I can't believe ANYONE can defend this idiot.

Considering the extent of damage to many homeowners and residents, many of whom lost every single thing they have ever owned, I'd say you got off extremely light, no?

Please tell me you copped a feel from Travoltas hot ass wife?

I think Brown had this on his resume: "If you'll look at my lovely FEMA attire, you'll really vomit. I am a fashion god." Bush saw the word 'god' and didn't want to anger one of his higher-ups.

Wow! I thought I was the only one who wanted a peaceful revolution:

Two Presidential and Four mid-terms elections where...

1) No incumbent can win.
2) No lawyer/judge/state/local politician can win. (No previously elected official.)
3) No resident within a 100 mile radius of DC can win.
4) The elected bodies must proportionally match the demographics (income, gender, religion, ethnicity) of the American Middle Class.

What do you think?

Did anybody bother reading this incriminating evidence?

Seriously did you?

Brown:"I got it at Nordstroms. Email McBride and make sure she knows! Are you proud of me? Can I quit Now? Can I go home?"

This is in response to

"My eyes must certainly be decieving me. You look Fabulous- and I'm not talking the makeup!"

What is the context?

Brown "Last Hurrah was supposed to be Labor Day, I'm trapped now, please rescue me"

In response to somebody named Betty Guhman who was asking him if he will be in DC and she wanted to meet up with him.
Obviously his response was a bit of sarcasm to her because he obviously wants to meet up with her.

I knew when this story broke there was a 95% chance the idiots in the MSM would leave out information like context and just go with a huge title.

No wonder the MSM has been seeing such dropping ratings.

I read it. It comes off as some middle aged loser trying desparately to flirt (and failing) in some emails all the while he should be burning the midnight oil trying to get the federal government to snap to work and provide aid to people that were about to lose everything.
Ultimately it just looks like he never took his job seriously, even in the face of a huge crisis

Didnt see that at all, and these were obviously cherry picked. If this is the worst of it this is laughable and not even worth a story.

Seriously, this is weak stuff right here.

Part of me feels sorry for the guy -- I bet if we read your emails it would be pretty stupid sounding too. But that does not excuse the fact that he was part of the problem and not part of the solution when it came to Katrina.

This was posted above and is by no means weak:

The guy did not take his job seriously, his personal needs were obvisously higher priority than NO, and he didn't even have a clue what he was doing. Have you seen any of the enquiries afterwards? He even went as far as lieing when asked why the parish that NO is in was not included in the initial distaster response plan. He went as far as to state that the gov of LA didn't ask for it, which has been since proven wrong The guy is an inept tool and needs to be put behind bars for dereliction of duty and perjury.
