I know most of you will not care but this needs to be publicized.
At my school, The University of Texas at Arlington, our president, Mr. Spanolo has disgraced one of our buildings.
In our engineering building we have a flag for every country (or at least most of them) in the world, hanging across the entire ceiling, with a US flag at one end, and a Texas flag at the other.
Recently, some Vietnamese-American students protested about having the Socialist Republic of Vietnam flag hung among the other 134 flags, so what was Mr. Spanolo's reaction? He took down every single flag from the building, including the US and Texas flags hung above each doorway.
Is this not an overreaction!?
There is a website with more information, including a statement from the Vietnamese-American communities, the official statement from the President, and a picture of what the building looked like before its defacement.

I have already received 4 mass emails from concerned students at this outrageous act. Especially at this time (right after finals), we are unable to fully protest this act.
Please share your thoughts and opinions as I leave you with a quote from one outraged student.
"Why do 134 countries have to be disrespected and dishonored, because of one? The Hall of Flags is now the Hall of Missing Flags."
