I need some guidence on how to change out the DHCP client under redhat. With their new client that they are using (starting with 7 I think) The DHCP server here on campus will refuse to give me an IP address. I talked to the local network guru and he told me to switch back to their old client and it should be fine.

Is this something that I can do with the package manager, or is there something else that I have to do.

This is something strictly with redhat as far as I know because i have no problems with mandrake or debian.

Thanks

Thanks soybomb, I will give that a try. Do by any chance know what the new and old clients are called?

Tony- All I did was go to redhat's ftp and download the ISO's. They are under the beta section. Fisher is built with the 2.4 kernel.

The newer client is called pump, the original clients are called dhcp and dhcpd.
