A little help w/ freezing

uhh.. my computer keeps freezing... i will be doing something.. and my computer will freeze completely and it even freezes my modem and @#%$ because when i come back i will be disconnected
sometimes the freezes are longer than others, sometimes they're short ones

i dont think it's any specific program because i shut off everything one time and it still froze... so then i thought it was my connection for some reason.. so i disconnected and i still get the gay @#%$....

i didn't notice the changes after any specific d/l or anything
just one day it started happening
it's been doing this for about the past week
and they only thing i've d/led is stripped(A script pack for Starsiege: Tribes)
and i dont think that would freeze my entire computer..

any help would be appreciated. please don't reply with a format answer because im already looking toward that decision incase there is no solution

Don't know a thing about your rig or if you're overclocked. If overclocked, set everything back to defaults. Clear the BIOS. Check your temps and voltages. Reseat all cards and connections in your computer. While in your computer, make sure it isn't dirty. Make sure you don't have any IRQ conflicts. Don't know what OS, but check your system resources. If you have more than 1 stick of RAM remove all but 1 stick and try each stick separately. Update all your drivers, starting with the motherboard.

Can't think of anything else right now.
