A little advice please

My parents computer died, powersupply went and took the motherboard and god knows what else with it.
on a $300 budget, what would you suggest for bang-for-the-buck. Right now i'm looking for a solution with decent integrated graphics (that will beat the TNT2 that they have now), and future upgradagility.
my current thoughts are either the ATI integrated or nforce 1 with and AMD setup and some ddr. what are your thoughts?

DDR is not cheap so why have that? PC133 is cheap right now. I would personally go the ECS route with like an XP1600 or else some cheap duron. Use a cheap video card and you will be set for a little while until funds permit to upgrade.

Your choice is a good one. I would stay away from the ecs board. Stick with newegg.com, whatever you buy. Example: Asus a7v-266vm $73, xp1600 $58, 256 megs samsung pc2100 ddram $69, sparkle 300w ps, $32. Thermaltake volcano 5 $6.50. Total about $240-250 w/shipping. Well within your budget.

having built a number of comps with the K7S5A I still recommend it for budget builds.
good solid boards. get a decent quality PSU like a Sparkle 300W, these work well with this board.

Yeah i agree with amdskip n osage.
I think ECS will be a better choice, so you can stick with PC133 now and upgrade later to DDR to get a better performance.
