A linksys hub or switch for xbox networking

GO FOR THE SWICTH... it's much better. It handles the traffic much more smarter and over the time, if you want to use it for something else such as hookin it up to the internet and you would want to have switch since it's already more handy than hub.

for Xboxes linked up, I think there is no difference. If price is the same, go switch, if it's cheaper, go hub.

All the linksys literature says hub but sounds like they may have migrated to switch ports but not updated the documentation judging by the comments.
I agree with you that the performance difference between a hub and switch in this scenario would be negligible. Cheapest solution would be the best solution. On the other hand you can get a 5 port switch for 20 bucks (perhaps not from newegg but you can do that off pricewatch) shipped so why not just go ahead and get the switch.

ok i just wanted to make sure that my switch or hub wouldnt cause lag between the 4 xboxes because it will have 16 kids playing on those 4 xboxes all the time i can get a linksys switch shipped for less than 30 bucks from newegg. and i want a solid network to be able to handle the traffic that those 4 xboxes will dish out

XBox live supports 64? folks in multiplayer? Assume 1.5Mb broadband for most connections, that is compared to your 100Mb pipe for each box...sharing would drop that to 25 Mb, still WELL within the tolerable limits
