I have no sympathy for this base-jumping idiot. I hope he was insured so his family can live well and maybe find a new daddy who doesn't have a death wish.

Not a very good chance that he had insurance. These types of activities must be disclosed on the applications and generally result in an amendment to the policies stating that if the insured dies doing the activity, they aren't covered. That's if they issue a policy at all. For someone doing 700+ of these, it's unlikely any company would pay out for this.
