A lady I work with has a son who is an airline attendant

First of all, yes he is gay, now that is out of the way...


She and her husband and other son get free flights(Delta I believe) and never uses it. She only works 3 days a week, if that was me I would be using that to my advantage. Even if you didn't want to spend the night anywhere you could at least see numerous places. He does international flights out of Detroit, that would be flippin sweet. Every time he lands they get a 48 hour layover in which the airline puts him up in a nice hotel.
 
Having worked for America West/US Airways, I can understand exactly what you are thinking. While I never did go anywhere international, I took a few trips to LA by sitting in first class, having some beers, going to the international terminal for dinner, then flying home first class like 2 hours later.

Can't tell you how many times I went to vegas though LOL.

I was a gate agent.
 
Flying standby as an employee is not so great anymore. Sure it is free, but you better be flexible. Airlines have cut capacity to get their load percentages up. That means those with the free passes are last to board.

I used to jump seat a lot... but it was definitely a pain in the ass to get stuck somewhere when the last flight of the day was full.
 
Not to mention when you fly international for "free" as a flight attendant, you still have to pay certain airport taxes and fees for the the foreign country's airport charges.
 
flying sucks, especially international flights. Too damn long. Bring back the Concorde but use sell the tickets for regular prices 😉
 
Apparently British Airways, Singapore, and Cathay flight attendants stay at the Parc 55 in San Francisco, as I stayed there last weekend and on 2 separate occasions, I saw about 20-30 of them in the lobby, checking in. Some of them looked damn nice too.

I wouldn't qualify to be an international flight attendant, as I don't speak enough languages, but does anybody know how much money they make? I imagine it'd be pretty good.

i didn't know the airlines were still extending free flights for attendants and more than one guest.

However, whenever I travel solo I try to find the airlines hotel. If nothing else happens the hotel bar is a fun past time.

That would be super awesome. Even if I had no place to go I'd just go for the ride. Always wanted to go in an airplane, never been able to afford it (or it was simply stupid to actually pay, vs taking the bus or driving)
