A HUGE WTF

GoingUp

So I pay a bunch of bills today and I go to check to see how much money I have in my accounts..... after all my bills are paid I will have a combined $24 dollars in savings and checking, im almost out of food, my car is out of gas, and I need to do laundry........ :| I check the statements online and I have a $30 withdrawl fee? WTF is that? Has anyone ever heard of a $30 withdrawl fee from US Bank? I also have a maintence fee of $5. $35 is a lot of money for me right now because somehow I have to make it until next week and I have 0 cash......... :| Goddamn banks..... anyone know of a good bank in the Wisconsin area that doesnt have all those fees?

Most likely you've been making withdrawals from an ATM that doesn't belong to your bank.

You get charged twice, & the ones from your bank will be grouped into one.

Mine's the same way.

The bank took out my mortgage payment 4 days early. It didn't make a difference, but i'm not impressed. :|

my parents got a $10,000 check in the mail once from their bank. It was sent in a regular 37 cent envelope

i love how banks are always trying to screw you...

and don't start talking about how they are a business and they need to make money and all that crap, i realize that... but the crap i'm talking about is this:

i go to my bank's ATM, thinking i have around $40 in checking... so, i take out $20... i really had $18 in there, but the bank allowed me to take out the $20 just so they could then charge me a $25 fee for overdrawing! i would have rathered they said "sorry you can't get $20 out of the atm" but they decided to screw me

my checking also has a $3 account maintenance fee, which if you have direct deposit, goes down to a $1 a month fee. however, instead of taking out $1 from the account, they take out $3 then credit back $2.

if i only had $1.50 in the bank, and the maintenance fee was only $1, but they took out $3 then credited back $2, i'd get charged another overdraft fee! i hate banks w/ a passion

My bank has never charged me for using anyone elses ATMs. You got a crappy bank there guys dang!

I accidentally had 3 overdrafts for purchases of $4 each when I was buyin lunch.... :| The fee is $5 but it is itemized seperately from the larger fee.....

There are good banks and there are sh*tty banks. And my bank is an awesome bank. No monthy fees or anything like that. I have over draft protection via my credit card (so no bouncing chex or NSF fees). And, best of all, they reimburse me upto $12/month for ATM fees so I can use any d@mn ATM I want. 🙂

BTW, you should really change banks. Paying for a checking account and stuff like that is BS IMO. Banks almost always have incentives and free sh*t for new members so I think you should take yer $24 and split.

In one month at Bank of America, I deposited three checks.. and they charge me with an extra service fee (like $10 or something).. I was like.. wtf! :|

I already pay $5 a month just to have the checking account..

Well I called and b!tched and they refunded me the $30 withdrawl fee..... evidently it is a federal law that they have to track how often you transfer money via internet or phone and if its more than 6 times a month, they can charge you.... $30 is a huge difference for me right now.... it means groceries and gas and laundry can get done this week....

If you are in Madison, Summit Credit Union or UW Credit Union. Just a FYI, the credit unions in Madison have an agreement that all credit union ATMs will be surcharge free to any person with a credit union account.

yeah, unless you like convenient things like weekend hours and wire transfers and low minimum account requirements.

Who needs weekend hours? I never even visit my Credit Union... it's in another state! I do everything via phone, fax, & internet.

Wire Transfers? No problem. See above.

Minimum account requirements? The minimum balance at my credit union is $5 in savings, and $0 in checking.

Credit Unions beat banks no question! When my wife and I got married, we dumped her bank (Suntrust) and stayed with my credit union. Suntrust was charging her $120/yr just to have an account with them!
