This is a suggestion. Please post if someone would like to take up the responsibility to bring this hot deal to the masses.

For long I wanted to buy a 12X SCSI DVD drive. Every place online seems to be out of stock.
I just found a place where they have 15 packs of these drives (Toshiba 12X SCSI)!

If someone would organize a group buy, I think this is a hot deal (comes to around 150 shipped i think). It probably should be someone who is NOT in CA, cos the tax is hefty otherwise.

Lets see some volunteers! :D

No wonder they have it in stock -- they are over $200 higher than Buy.com! Yikes, that's a hefty difference.

Wuts the big deal? I don't see how this SCSI drive is better than the IDE drive? They should both be about the same speed the DAE still sucks. I love SCSI but i don't see the use for a DVD drive. I have the plextor 40x max, plextor 8/20x and an IBM 36LZX. Its my only IDE drive and it works just fine. I paid a premium for the 40x max and the 8/20X beacuse it really does make a difference for burning/copying CD's. The 10K RPM HD is cause I like speed :D.

If you've got a fast enough CPU to software decode DVD's then you should be able to use an IDE DVD-ROM. (Me: 550E@825) The extra $60 doesn't seem worth it to me.

The drive is backordered at buy.com.

But MultiWave has it in stock for $150 if you are in a hurry.

Either way, it is less trouble than the group buy.

I spoke with a CSR for Buy.Com.... They won't have any of these drives in until Nov. 11th.... Then they are getting as he called it a "crap load"
