1: "Windows did not find any new modems attached to your computer."I swear I put one in. It's a US Robotics PCI V90 with Voice, all new, model # 2976 OEM. Tried different PCI slots. Reinstalled it several times. No luck.
2: No audio from SB Live Value sound card also on a PCI slot. Also tried different slots as well as reinstalling.
3: Enabling PCI Serial Controller which has a yellow question mark in Device Manager. The motherboard CD (ASUS CUSL2-C) does not seem to contain the drivers,if that is in fact the problem, and Windows 98SE does not have them either. No info on ASUS site. I wonder if the first 2 problems are not interraled with the last one.

Download the latest Intel I815E drivers..Windows SE didnt have them as the chipset is newer than SE

Unfortunately, that file is slightly bigger than a floppy can hold and until I can fix the modem problem on my desktop I cannot do an update. I have some files on the CD which came with the motherboard but they don't seem to have fixed the problem. Any thoughts on resolving the other outstanding issues?

PCI Serial Controller is the entry in Device Manager for your modem. Install the modem drivers. (Don't run the setup, double click on PCI Serial Controller in Device Manager, Driver Tab, Update Driver, point it to the CD-ROM drive).

My modem never came with a CD when I called USR they referred me to their site and asked me to download a file to update my drivers.

Windows install files for OEM product 662976. Extract the install files onto an empty, formatted diskette and follow the installation instructions that were included with your modem. This file should NOT be used with any other product. Win9x - 2976.exe file size: 244224 bytes file date: 11-09-00

I tried have disk and got a general fault protect error. Do you think there is something wrong with the file? Did I do something wrong? Give detailed and explicit instructions, if you please. Thank you in advance.

Update: Redownloaded Drivers to floppy saved them to hard drive removed PCI Serial Controller from Device Manager rebooted Windows detected new hardware directed to search C drive found drivers. Now I have to test the modem hope it all goes well.

Just got the sound card left any suggestions?
