A Highway Patrol friend of mine just pulled over a Lexus @145mph

I have never run from the cops on 4 wheels, but I have ran from them several times on 2 wheels.

I saw 182 (probabaly in the mid 160's with error correction) running from the State last year on Memorial Day on a just broken in GSX-R750. He never had a chance to catch up. I took another HWY north and took the 2nd exit and stayed low in a residential area for an hour, just sitting on a curb.

I do not advocate running, even though I have on numerous occasions. Expect several felonies and a large attorney fee if you run and get caught.

Most likely. That and they're dangerous. If they pursue they motorist and s/he loses control at high speeds, s/he's at a high risk of being killed.

You are correct and there are several cities in Dallas that use them specifically for tickets and pursuits. I have run (and gotten away) as well as stopped for one on 635 and 30 last year. That 105 in a 60 ticket hurt, well a little. I guess it depends on my mood and the traffic conditions at the time.

I imagine they have these in many states. Except the Camaro's they drive here in Illinois are later models. A lot of unmarked sneaky sh!t too. I've seen a couple total sleeper Mustangs pulling people over. Even the plates look civilian.

I just got pulled over yesterday by a trooper doing 78 in a 55. That'll be $95 please 🙁 The smokey gave me back my license with my ticket and didn't realize it until I began to pull away... So he throws on the sirens and lights and pulls me over again. Doesn't bother to even get out of the car just gets on his horn and says "Hey! I need your license!" moron...

I think I want my slow-ass Explorer back

Because he realized he was supose to keep my license! hehe. I thought I was gonna get away with my license, but he realized his mistake too quickly 🙁

When you get a ticket in Illinois you have to post something, whether it's cash, a bond card or your license. In this case it was my license. You drive on the ticket... it's retarded. No one asked me before they made these rules, trust me.
 
i live in mass.

and i've been to IL with my friends a few times.

i remember my friend getting pulled over for speeding.
but i don't remember him getting his license taken away.

that's just crazy

That is retarded. My 45 over ticket did not even warrant that kind of punishment, just a signature. I retained an attorney and had the ticket deferred and paid a $90 fine. The ticket never even saw my driving record. No points and a low fine.

He let me go with no ticket or warning, but I had to have my parents call him.

Christ... if it meant getting out of a ticket, the cop could have a sit down talk with my parents if he wanted.


 
yeah they took my license in georgia too for my speeding ticket. as far as i know they do that for all speeding tix. mine was 89 in a 55 (he gave me a break, cuz i was doing more like 95). you drive on the ticket til you get your license back.

maybe it's a shame thing, i'd hate to get pulled over for speeding again and have to show the officer my ticket cuz i didn't have my license.

I've never personally run from the cops even though I have heard several stories from people that have... I've undoubtably screamed by at speeds so fast that I had already turned off my exit by the time they had time to even radio. I dunno, anything faster than 100 and I start to get scared about turning.

One of my friends got caught going about 20 over (70 in a 50), at first he tried to run... so he turns off at a local mall parking lot and parks it... unfortunately, the malls are empty at that hour and needless to say, when the cop caught up to him... LOL

What I really hate is that cops seem to be profiling sport & sport compact car owners in my area. They hassle people and tailgate them and generally antagonize them. I had a cop tailgate me for two towns on a two lane road. He even used his friggin spotlight on me when I finally turned off. I was really tempted to "brake for wildlife." :| Needless to say, the ONLY time I've ever been ticketed for speeding (or any other moving violation for that matter) was in my old Neon with meatball tails. He even went as far as trumping up my speed an extra 5mph on top of being a complete @$$ for the whole stop. I've been stopped 2 times other than that with only warnings... a "dangerous turn" & 10 over...
and those officers were all very professional and polite. I NEVER give any lip to cops.

Actually, I kept up with a friend's Infiniti until his speedo read 90, after that he started leaving me behind. 😉 When I passed the cop van I was doing around 80-85 though. And yes, I PASSED the van. As in he was in the right lane and I passed him in the left lane. I had just gotten off working all night, & it didn't register what it was until I was almost even with him. Rather than drop back & get in the right lane behind him I slowed down to 70 or so, got in front of him, & then gradually left him behind & returned to my previous speed. When I took my exit though he was behind me with his lights flashing. 😀

And he didn't call my parents, his deal with me was "Have your parents call me within three days. If they don't call me, I'll call them. I figure it's better for you if they hear it from you rather than me."

I was 16, maybe 17 at the time.
