Hello all. A while ago my computer blew up, and I finally got a response from newegg about the rma. My system was a P4, and I was using a MSI Ultra-845E motherboard. Well, newegg says they no longer carry that specific board, so they are offering me $91 or a MSI Motherboard 645E Max2-LRU.

Well, I have never used a non VIA or Intel chipset before. I am wondering, how does the SiS645 compare to the 845E, and will it give me any problems with overclocking? (I did an easy 100 -> 133mhz bump) Also, is there any large proformance difference?

Also, a while ago there were TONS of people reporting problems with ATI video cards on SiS boards. I am using a dual monitor setup, with two original Radeon's. Is this going to give me any problems?

Thanks in advance,

-Chu

I would take the $91 and apply it to the gigabyte 8sg667 or albatron px 845 pev pro. The gigabyte board works well with ddr400 and agp 8x, and the albatron overclocks well and supports hyperthreading. Both are priced about $93-95.

I actuially use the raid function on the board, so I kinda need a replacement board with Raid0 as well.

>> I read somewhere unless the onboard RAID chip is the same, you cannot plug back the RAID setup and get your data back.

This is true, but since the hard drives died along with the motherboard, that problem sort of took care of itself :(
