I just got out of my car when two dudes stop by me in an SUV asking if I want a free home theater system. Apparently, he had an extra one?!?! I said "No, thank you" and told him that I think this is kinda shady! He gave me some weird explanation which I couldn't understand and didn't really care to listen to. I wonder if somebody else ended up taking it from him.

It's my personal experience that people don't go around giving away free home theater system :)

It's the same line they used when they approached me. They need an attention getter. Then all of a sudden it was like well we could sell you this higher end stuff for really cheap.

Was walking into a WalMart and some guy pulls up in an old crappy corsica or something. Asked if I wanted to buy a new notebook. He looks at the box and starts rattling off the specs. Said no thanks. He said come on, $400 dollars! Gave him that big eyed look like he was crazy. He said how about $300? Just kept saying nope and walking. He eventually came down to $30 and said forget it and walked in the other door so he couldn't follow. Watched to see if he went back towards my car, but he drove off.

Guy was getting desperate to get rid of it.

For $30 I would have been lookin. Knowing me though, that "weighted box" thought wouldn't occur to me until after I handed over $30:p

That white van crap happened to me about 2 months ago. I just laughed in the guy's face because I had prior knowledge about the scam from my readings on the Internet. He tried to be so convincing by showing me an ad from a printed magazine and how the speakers originally retailed for over $1,000. I can't believe people make their living by being such a scumbag and trying to trick people. I guess I couldn't lie to hundreds of people each day like these people do. If someone finally purchased one of the products from me, I'd probably crack up in the purchaser's face and call them a dummy. :(

There is a guy in Oakland California that gave someone that I met last week a free T.V. at a garage sale because she paid $ 15 for a monitor. Inside the T.V., which apparently was a nice enough one to keep, was a GPS module, which in turn located her residence. While they ransacked her house her COP b/f came home and busted them in the act. Two sorry guys gone to the big house! Nothing is free!
