after reading a few things on the net and comparing the price of ddr and rdram i must be a fool not to go with rdram... well the next question is to get the mobo but there are so many board out there some people say the Abit TH7II is a good one but i'm not sure. can some1 with exp help me out.. thanx
is this board good for oc ? did anyone oc their rdram ?? please let me know about the stats

Abit TH7II is hands down the best P4 Mobo avialable. Why? Because it ocs better than any other 850 board, is the same price as Asus P4T-E. and it will oc to the same level as the 845-D based Asus P4B266 and MSi 845 Ultra ARU. The only other thing to make sure you get, is good RDRAM. The best RDRAM for ocing is Samsung/Corsair. They both can almost every time hit PC1066 speeds (533fsb) and at these speeds, this RDRAM setup will prolly be about 10-15% faster than an equivalent Asus P4B266 at 533fsb. Go get it!!!!

I don't suppose you know of a RDRAM board that does not need an ATX12v power supply? I hate to have to spend the extra $ to get a new power supply. The DDR Asus PB266-C has that nifty connector for the rest of us. I'd like to go with RDRAM for the extra speed it provides now that it's cheaper.

Yea, unfortunately, the only company that has made a P4 board that doesn't need it is Asus and their P4T-E was released before it was developed so unfortunately no, but you may be able to get away without it.

How would it be done? Is there a converter or are u thinking of just buy the mobo and try it out to see if it works?

athalon do u have a site with information on oc the p4 northwood? i tried to look for information @overclockers.com but their layout was bad and it was hard to search for things.

thanx a lot for the info!!!

Just trying running it without the extra connector. I know people have tried it and it has worked.

No I don't but, I'd do a search. But what do you need to know? Maybe I can help.
