A good OTC allergy medecine

Allergies have been kicking me in the head for the last week or so. I get them every year around this time and usually just ride it out, but this year is unusually brutal. I took a Claritin-D the other day and while it works it wired me out for about 2 days. The cure was worse than the disease.

Any suggestion for allergy relief medicine available OTC that isn't Claritin-D or its generic equivalent?

Taking a zinc supplement virtually cured my allergies.

If you want meds, there's a version of Claritin without the decongestant.

I use Flonase steroid nasel spray ... takes a couple days to fully kick in but eliminates all symptoms with virtually no side-effects.

Edit: Sorry missed the "OTC" ... Flonase is perscription & won't work.

Zyrtec. It's the best of the ones without a D (in other words, the best one w/o pseudoephedrine).

Wait, I don't think its OTC. Benadryl is the next best, but it'll put you to sleep. Have you tried regular Claritin?

Zyrtec is now OTC.

Does Zyrtec have that stupid law saying you can only buy so much within a certain period?

I'm tired of having to go to the pharmacy ever 10 days to buy Claritin.

Benadryl is also an excellent allergy med, but it kicks my ass and makes me VERY sleepy...

Same here. I love what it does as far as taking care of the allergies but it really knocks you out.

I'd recommend Zyrtec too.

Thanks.

That's exactly what my wife just brought home. Trying it now.

Zyrtec is OTC? Wow. I think that's the only thing that worked for me. Now I can actually get a hold of some! whoopee!
