They did and anyone with an ounce of sense already knew the plane would take off...

it outright pisses me off when they do myths that can be disproven by either common sense or a few math equations. and there's been a lot of that crap lately.

imo, show has jumped the shark. but i'll probably still catch a rerun of the episode mentioned in the OP. i was busy watching top chef. =O

Yea, I think this is a definite winner for best recreation of a myth being confirmed or busted or plausible. Waterheater rocket is a close 2nd....

that new chick can weld
i don't think kari can weld

Exactly. She's useless. She doesn't contribute anything to the show. Tori can actually build things/use tools, and Grant is the brains. Kari isn't even that hot. I'll have to check out this new girl, haven't heard of her.

she's the artistic one. that's how i've always seen it. she makes models and shit, tory builds stuff and hurts himself, grant does electronics.

i have no problem with the cast of characters, they just need some better material.

I think the producers tell them to:
1. High five each other for no reason
2. state the obvious
3. do #2 as loudly as possible

Grant is not that smart. He came to my school to give a presentation and I stood up and asked if anyone on the show actually thought that the plane wouldn't take off. He said that he didn't think it would. I'll give him props for admitting it though.

that doesnt make him not smart. Plenty of people thought it wouldnt take off.

Maybe it's the show that depicts him smarter than he actually is, or he is smart. either way idc

maybe not 'not smart,' but not grasping a basic physics principle would be a pretty severe offense seeing as most of their show is based around phsyics experiments.

I'm going to go with "yeah, that means he's not that smart, at least when it comes to mechanical ability & physics."

edit: I'm also going to go out on a limb & say that if someone still doesn't believe that .999... = 1, AFTER being presented with a few simple demonstrations that it is, that person is also an idiot.

Oh, and when Monty Hall asks if you want to change your mind, you change your mind.

You don't have to know physics to build robots, which is why he's there. I don't know how to build a robot but I know the physics... so I guess it's all even

you'd think he of all people would know that a machine that performs a task while being manipulated by a human is not a robot.
