a good external HD

When I first built my PC, seagate was the good brand to buy in HD.

I'm in the market for an external HD, and I wanted to know which brands to get, and which ones to stay away from.

I'm looking to get something in the 300 - 500 gb range.

buy an OEM internal SATA drive and an external enclosure for USB2.0/eSATA

End up cheaper than buying a all in one drive.

You can usually find OEM drives for really cheap. Gotta dig around. Also check BestBuy adds for any deals on HDDs they have. I got a couple 250GB drives for $80 not long ago. WesternDigital too which has a good warranty and good reputation.

Name brand external HDDs from segate, western digital etc cost considerably more than offbrand with slow HDDs inside them.
